Yeah - I saw that. In the end I took Pauly's advice and wired in a momentary switch into the power locking mechanism. Was surprisingly easy! So now I can open the tailgate from the bed in the morning

My plan is to use cheap boot kick sensor to allow open/close via leg kick (aka "easy open").
