Oil is going up !

...gas I assume that will be going up too - especially as we can’t store much anymore.
We have lots of gas storage available in redundant gas fields under the North Sea but Millband and the Zero zealots won't use it.

Still waiting for my delivery @74p/ltr ordered last Monday….had a text message today saying delivery would be 02/11/2026 wtf!!!
Seems they’ve now stopped taking calls…..I probably need to raise a ticket!! :waving:
Which company is that ?
Just listening to news, seems the Competion Regulator may be about to investigate. Don't hold your breath. Milliband is loving this as there will be a surge towards ASHP

We have an independent fuel station; we do not have the capacity to buy fuel weeks in advance. We usually have 2 deliveries a week. Back end of last week, we had to pay £1.69 PL for diesel supreme. We had booked a delivery for tomorrow and got the price to us this morning, not retail, £2.05 PL.
We have cancelled the delivery! Don't know what to do?
That's crazy !! So retail margin is 10p or less per litre ?

I don’t believe that’s accurate.

While there is currently is a ban on ‘new’ fields existing fields can still be worked and even expanded and storage is actively encouraged - for energy security.

Despite the alarmist stories in the Mail about the UK being down to only two days of gas in storage, thats actually a normal state of affairs.

For us to be near the prices with a big Shell site(MFG) down the road, it's never above 10p profit; sometimes it's only 2p. When all big companies take over what's going to happen?

There is a difference between 'actively encouraged' and "realised'

There is.
But there is a bigger difference between the ‘net zero means we can’t’ and actively encouraging it.

The energy sector has long been a private investors arena. The current strategy doesn’t change that, just aims to redirect where some of that the investment is spent. In a managed transition.

One of the many benefits of net zero/sustainability is to reduce our exposure to these price shocks we are seeing right now.

Remember also extraction rates in the North Sea have been dropping for decades and some in the industry anticipate by 2050 it won’t be worth it. Yes fossil fuels globally won’t run out in our lifetime but as the world becomes less stable - whether though climate change or war (one encourages the other), then price shocks in fossil fuels will become more frequent and more extreme. This we will see again in our lifetime.

I used to work in Exploration for BP, Conoco and Lasmo North Sea back in the '80s and 90's and there was always talk of oil and gas reserves running out in the UK sector. But they never did. Finds were sold between companies and never exploited as they were deemed uneconomical. However, as drilling tech improved and prices increased , these fields became financially viable and the circle continues to turn. Reserves are still good, but Milliband and Starmer the Farmer Harmer are blind to seeing the security in it for the UK

And now prices are falling, with Brent Crude down 3 dollars a barrel today alone, but we wont see retail prices fall accordingly. Rocket and feather.

Sorry, 30. Being in the yakuza I dont always hit the zero with my right pinky.

It was nudging £2 a few years back. I can't remember the reason tho'. I do remember just cutting back on unnecessary journeys and how much quieter the roads were.
It was a great time to do the NC500, didn't book a site ahead at all, no problems finding fuel either in the Highlands, it was just expensive, over £2 a litre in some places.
Still our only 'wildcamping' experience in a rented van... loved it.
