New van project

Only downside was that i asked them to fit our vamoose awning rail but it must have got damaged in the post, i ordered it a while ago and its just been sat in a tube in the garage since then!

Well today I've been starting the sound deadening, had a lot of cleaning with glue remover to start with to get the original felt pads off and the spray glue that had been used to hold on the house insulation! So ruddy itchy.

Well i had to get the floor out, i had my tools of choice!

i got it peeled back and OMG the floor was so sticky! I cut it off as it was getting in the way.

Then it was onto the ply removal, it was 2 piece and they had put filler over alot of the screw holes at the join to level it out. My god what a pain that was!!

got 1 side off

and then the other, had a quick wipe down and doesnt look too bad. Quite alot of screw holes though!!!

Looking superb, happy new T6 to you.

Lots of great jobs, such a pleasure doing these yourself, such a sense of pride and also knowing they have been done the correct way ;)

On the heated jets, have you wired them up also?

Yeah mine were heated originally so it was a simple swap.

Looks like you had to fix someone else's botch job at insulating too.

It had been converted to working van spec so pretty much a combination of oem panels carpeted or additional ply panels added. The wiring was done quite well so i now have the Stirling charger and alot of conduit and wires i can reuse. Downside was the itchy fibreglass insulation and the over amount of screws used to hold everything in place!

Well the battery cable from the previous install was on the passenger side just behind the sliding door

i was hoping to fit the leisure battery here but with us wanting to put the portaloo and have storage it wouldnt fit

So i then set about moving the wiring, only issue was it went up the drivers side, across the rear axel area and back in again so i had to pull it all out so most the undertrays came off

Awesome, old XR3i K-Jet ?

Great work OP. Love seeing the progress on these projects.

What did the original owner use it for ? There's lots of wiring and bits they put in. Must be some specialist works van ?

Close, it is K-jet but from a Capri!
The original owners were some groundworks company that used radio to find cables buried in the ground. So they had the back section for all the tools and equipment.

I initially wrote 2.8i Essex (Not sure Capri or Granada), but then forgot the fuel flow and return were on the sides of the metering unit. Nice to see the choke valve for the seventh injector there. Pics of that too when you have the bits back!

Mine is a P.V., and I'm adding more wiring and bits as it becomes more of a mobile workshop.....

Finally an empty van in the rear, the brackets are removed and seat is for sale.

Here she is in her former glory, she still looks like this but needs a good service!

So I've done a bit more today, its a bit messy but its just planning at moment. Think im going to get the battery, noco charger and sterling charger under the drivers seat along with the oem parts and then on the passenger side will be the 12v fusebox and RCD box.

Cleaned the front ready to sound deaden

I do have a bit of query though what they have done to the oem wiring before i got it.

I think they have taken a feed from passenger side with a relay which goes over to the sterling charger and i also think they have tapped into an earth on the BCM. Not sure why they have taped up a power wire on passenger side.

Did a bit of wiring today for the 12v set up

Did the sound deadening in the front cab and did the rear quarters as well.
