VAT can be a nightmare. I had a conversation with a well known Van and Parts supplier on here as they are over charging customers VAT illegally. They simply just didn't understand you can't charge a variable rate of VAT.
I was VAT registered so I just claimed it back but your standard retail customer was paying more than 20% - They are still doing it too as I've seen a few of their advertisements recently.
No doubt will catch up with them sooner or later as the HMRC VAT department are ruthless.
