Media Head Unit Not Working From Steering Wheel Controls - Help Please !

Hi Guys
Need some help in finding what's caused a problem with the steering wheel controls for the head unit.

My T6 recently had a minor minor paint repair to the drivers door which involved taking the electric door mirror off, and while in the shop the door was left open so the battery went flat, since having the van back the steering wheel controls for the head unit don't work and it does recognise the ignition is on, also have to manual switch it on and off. I have checked all fuses and checked all connections at the rear.
Any assistance will be very much appreciated before I take in to VW.

All my steering wheel buttons have stopped working - a part between the steering column and the wheel has broken apparently. It was supposed to be fixed last week
