Insurance Companies

Mine just from Adrian Flux came in £12 on last year at £531 +AV
I can never work out how they come to prices for insurance my insurance is for £38,000 but they state until AV is confirmed only market value will be paid out so why is the insurance premium not for the market value and the additional AV to make up the differance so if the market value of my van is 20K started life as a panel van why does the premium not reflect a 20k van
I am sure someone on here tried that move and could only get an AV for the sum insured ie 20k
Kind regards
confused of Dartford 😂 😂
Just had an email from AF they have processed the AV but only for £37,000 which is OK but because I said value of 38K and they said 37K I just got a refund on the premium to reflect the reduction on value which I didnt expect.

My insurance renewel came through today, £217 , a reduction of £30, with Insurd with only 2 yrs no claims, although I need to ring them and see if they will accept my unallocated 10 yrs car no claims instead.

Not too shabby

Not the van, but the renewal for my car is down from £217 to £179 and the renewal for SWMBO's car is down from £158 to £122 - both policies Defaqto 5* rated.

The joys of turning 60.

Never seemed to make much difference when I turned 60. Mind you, being a circus fire-eater with an extensive criminal record for TWOC and drink driving who parks their van in the street outside my Moss Side flat might be slightly offsetting the age dividend.

Trial without catheter?! Google is my friend!

When you get to 80 there’s not much point is staying legal, what are they going to do bang you up for 2 years.
£300 FPN, 6-point licence endorsement, seizure of your vehicle, storage/release fees (or crushing of your vehicle after 14 days) and pariah status amongst the law-abiding drivers who have to pick up the tab for uninsured drivers. Not exactly a winning strategy.

Not to mention it pretty much automatically puts you in the wrong if you have a smack.

Youll have to buy insurance anyway to get your vehicle back cnce its seized and under those circumstances most wont issue cover, so you could well lose your wheels.

And if you kill someone youre in a world of dont-drop-the-soap pain. Youll be right down the pecking order for a 'mere' motoring offence and the ODC's will passmyou round like currency. If you like having silent farts and having to wear nappies for the rest of your life then be my guest.
