No it's not normal, it should fire up very soon after the starter motor engages, it shouldn't have to turn over for 6 seconds before starting.
Is there any pattern, i.e. does this slow starting happen only when the engine is cold or does it always happen?
If you've been driving, then switch off and leave it two or three seconds does it fire up immediately on turning the key?

Not normal.

There's a problem somewhere.

Can you video it on your phone and post a link here?

Have you had the van scanned for codes?

..

Thinking fuel, compression, glow system, timing, ?

Which engine variant?
It's not a 180BHP bi-turbo CFCA by any chance, have you had it long enough to find out if it uses loads of oil?
