Heated windscreen fault

My heated windscreen appears to have a fault where a 20mm band right in your driving sight line of the heating wires doesn’t appear to be working.

The band will eventually disappear but suspect as combination of windscreen blower and the working parts of the window heating up, as opposed to the wires in this area working.

Has anyone had similar, it is 2021 highline DSG T6.1 ?

Would this be covered under warranty or will they say, you just need to wait for it to clear?

Advice appreciated.

That looks like a screen issue, as in one or more of the vertical screen elements have failed/faulty.

The only fix.is a replacement screen.

So it's either that or just put up with it.

A 2021 is under warranty, so you could try for a warranty replacement, ... But expect them to say that it's not fully faulty, just a bit faulty. Lol...

Keep us in the loop.

Apologies for the thread hijack. This week is the first time I've used my heated windscreen but it seems to do nothing. The screen only clears where the hot air is being directed.

When the heated windscreen is on should I be able to feel it with the back of my hand pressed against it?

Not sure you will feel it, it doesn’t get hot just less cold

You won’t be able to feel it.
Your heated windscreen is almost working fine.
I am not sure I would claim it. Replacing the glass the risk of paint damage is real. Glass specialist made a mess of mine last time I have replaced it. They see a Van and they just don’t care.

Mine is exactly the same as yours on 2022 van, noticed it yesterday morning.

If it demists the screen within a minute or so with no blowers on, then it's working.

Quick update. Finally had the van in for a service and MOT on Friday warranty due to expire today!

Any way VW garage looked at the windscreen and confirmed no damage to the screen (stone chips/cracks etc) that would cause the fault. They wanted to keep the van for a cold start to try and see the fault themselves, but weather wasn’t looking favourable for them to need to use the heated screen to de-mist. Before warranty ran out.

Instead they asked if I had any photos, which I did. So they forwarded on the photos and got approval for the warranty exchange of the screen. Claim has gone in before warranty expired and exchange is booked in for this week.

They did comment they have seen a few of these faults recently on similar age Vans.
