Thanks for responding, my van is a 2018 T6, and I’m only considering this as I continue to get a few recurring errors (below), which I think might be the result of adding an after market stereo (Halo 9) - but I’ve been doing a lot of tweaks to the van, a hard reset feels like a worthwhile thing to maybe try to see if it can clear things.

03158 - Information electronics control module 1: No signal/communication
B200100 - Control module: Incorrect software version
U112100 - Databus missing message

Is your feeling that disconnecting the battery for a while (say overnight) would be enough top achieve the same result ?

I'm no expert (and my van is newer) but shorting the battery leads together feels wrong/dangerous to me when the thing is full of little computers all over the place.

My T5 gave errors because I'd changed the head unit but I think that's to be expected as the system can't see the original equipment it's looking for, and those errors will never go away.

If your errors are all related to the missing original head unit (I don't know if they are for certain) but everything is working correctly then I think I'd leave well alone.

Just disconnect the Leisure battery NEG terminals as well as the starter battery NEG


Then you can do the full reset.

Works on all vans new and old.

I’m considering giving this capacitor discharge a go, but I’m curious about the role my solar charger/leisure battery plays in the set up, plus I’ll admit part of my question is driven by the hassle of having to remove the whole front seat to get access to completely disconnect the leisure battery at source..

Looking at my set up, the only connection from the CTEK 250SE i can see that is using to the starter battery is the red cable in the diagram below, which is fused too.

I was wondering can I just remove the fuse to isolate the two batteries from each other and then do the discharge ?

No...

Your need to fully disconnect the van from all sources of power. Before doing the reset .

The only way to do that is to fully disconnect the starter and leisure battery terminals.....

Then you can touch the starter battery van side cables together.

This must only be done when the terminals are completely disconnected from the battery.

Did you try this? Mine has exactly the same codes and I can't clear them>?

I just want to say thanks to the original poster, this has helped me right out. I've done this today and it was a complete success.

It all went wrong when I left my headlights on all day by mistake. When I left work the battery was completely flat. I got a jump start which got it going again but all the warning lights came on. And I mean all of them, every single warning light on the dash was on. Electric windows wouldn't work either.

I plugged in my carista and it came back with 10+ faults. I drove the van for over an hour to try and recharge the battery and hope to reset everything. The battery charged back up but all the warning lights stayed on.

Then I saw this post and followed it, I disconnected both the starter and leisure batteries and put the starter cables together. Plugged everything back in in reverse. Then started the engine, all good, no engine warning lights, no faults in the carrista. Everything working again. Jobs a goodun! Cheers
