Glow Plug Replacement On My T6

I'm really sorry if there is a "howto" PDF somewhere but my searches aren't throwing it up.

I am a VIP member and cant seem to find any information in there either. Is there such a document/Guide??

I have a flashing glow plug light and the readout from a friends (non VW specialist) computer is showing up faults on 3 of the plugs. He is inspecting it on Wednesday but it makes sense to me to replace them while he is checking them given the cost and access.

My question is how easy are they to access (he will be using a pit as my LWB is too big for his ramp) He is also inspecting/replacing a turbo sensor that is throwing up an error.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

What did your friend use to read the faults, and can you provide the exact error messages read by the computer ?
I seem to recall that VW use the glow plug light to signify other faults too.
3 failing at once seems odd. That and the other fault could signify something else e.g. dodgy battery or poor connection somewhere.
I wouldn’t assume the glow plugs are faulty quite yet.

Thanks Pete. I have print outs, I will scan them in tomorrow. Less worried about the glow plugs. Happy to change them out (as long as they are the problem) more worried about a turbo sensor problem which may be expensive. Van is late 2017 but over 52k so out of warranty.....

take the van to a dealer for a warranty overlook. (or call out VW ASSIST)

3x glow plugs are standard (ish)

but the fourth is a special one that has a in-cylinder-pressure-sensor > Cylinder3 Glow Plug

and as @Pete C mentioned above the chances are it may not be glow-plug related anyway.

these engines are very complicated and high spec compared to the old school oil burners.

Thanks for your advice. Somehow assumed after 50k the warranty expired, foolish of me.....

Called VW assist who came out an hour later, did a diagnosis and found the same turbo sensor fault. Took it to VW in Liverpool. They loaned me a van and had it fixed the next day. Great service. It turned out to be a wiring fault causing the sensor error and triggering the warning light.

Thanks again!
