well these are really good. . . and easy to deploy . . just use a USB battery pack.Soldering and software install? Not for me!
Could anyone recommend a good 'off the shelf' longer than 5m 'mutts nuts - donkeys wotsit' LED string for our 7 metre flagpole?
This will be our 3rd and final set! (Until the next bigger and better one obviously)
Our first set were solar, utter rubbish. Last years 10 meter string, just weren't good enough! Some folk in the forum had exactly what we're after but I'm struggling to find the current Rolls Royce of flagpole radiance longer than 5 metres, or even a link to the really really good 5m strings.
With quite a few important Forum engagements this year I really want folk to look at my pole in wonder and awe!
Does such a thing exist? Is it just connecting two 5 meter ones together? Do we just do the middle 5m, gap at top and bottom? I would so love a long one. It can be mains powered or 12 volt whatever is betterer!
@roadtripper have you got any 7m 'offcuts' you wouldn't mind offloading/creating to a fellow member in distress? This could be one of those side hustles that forum members love to spend money on!
More than happy to pass over currency or fly an RT flag!!

and if you wanna get them dancing to the tunes. . . .BUT . . . . . .
if you wanna go large. . . . . .
Then TWINKLEY is the way to go.
I've got 3x 250String sets.
and this year added a 600 string set.
Awesome - yes
has an APP - yes
mains powered - yes
mappable with the APP - yes
expensive - yes
worth it - yes

So how long does this last on anker 20,000 usbOK, flagpole lights V3. Wifey realised she hadn't bought me a Valentines prezzie (God forbid if I ever forgot her!) These guys turned up today and they are exactly what I wanted! 5m, I can live with that, very bright and colourful, more importantly they didn't cost me £55. They will cover the middle 5m of our 7m flagpole, attached with reusable velcro straps. Sorted...

Absolutely no idea! I'm running it off the mains supply from the van! About 3% of 200Ah battery with the inverter switched on for 5 hours or so... I would want to test them and see on that Anker. So how long does this last on anker 20,000 usb. Need to know how many usb bricks to buy!!
Oh and Welcome along to the Forum, good to have you here!So how long does this last on anker 20,000 usb. Need to know how many usb bricks to buy!!
Hi Lee,p10
reserved for any questions people ask . . . . . . .
got a question? - ask it.
1-
how long will my flag pole lights last on a battery . . . ?
5mtr Dream LED ws2811 kit on 12v . . . .
draws . .
solid colours:
red 600ma
green 600ma
blue 600ma
white 800ma
animation . .
50ma - 600ma.
so say 0.5Amp.
*************************************************************************
so 20ah battery with 50% DOD is 10ah . . .
10ah divided by 0.5A = 20hrs . . .
20hrs divided by 6hrs running per night = 3.5 days camping
*************************************************************************
so 20ah battery with 50% DOD is 10ah . . .
10ah divided by 0.1A = 100hrs . . .
100hrs divided by 6hrs running per night = 16.5 days camping
*************************************************************************
That means your flag pole will last 3-16 days on a 20ah battery depending on the setting.

I used a 12v crimp set like this, crimped on ends to the wires.Hi Lee,
Firstly what a great thread. For someone new to this, and a few years after you wrote this, this thread has given me so much info and help. I do just have a couple of questions. After reading the thread, I think I wont go with the USB powerbank option, and more likely to go with the set up you have in part 5 but without the solar panels. Im about to go to a festival with no EHU so will go with the small lesuire battery. I am looking at getting these, would you say they are ok?:

12V 366 program Dream chasing 5m flag pole lights
12V 366 program Dream chasing 5m flag pole lights This set consists of a 5m dream chasing light strip , it does NOT include a 240v mains power supply (see separate listing ) This set consists of a 5m length of SMD's ( surface mounted diode) or LED's housed in a silicone tube which is sealed at...www.flagseller.co.uk
In terms of then linking this to the battery, I need to get an adapter I noticed in your thread which can then crimp onto the sealed 12v battery. Can I ask, in your picture you have blue seals on the connected ends. How does this work? Looking at the crimp attachments, how would I fully seal it similar to how you have? Is it just a matter of the crimps then connecting straight to the battery. I was going to go with this option as the clamps are obviously larger, meaning in a waterproof bag may be too large?
Thanks
Steve

Ah great, slightly different to the first set I found so that makes sense. Thanks for your help, off to Amazon I go!I used a 12v crimp set like this, crimped on ends to the wires.
Then plugged into battery
Then there while lot into a sandwich bag.
.
Thats great, thanks for the heads up@baggyboy711
If you buy that set of LEDs & don't keep the controller bone dry it will fail - speaking from experience
If you buy these as below, the controller is IP67 rated:

Sorry Lee, last question, just to check, when you say you crimped on ends to the wires, did you remove the O-rings from the female charger attachments, and feed the wires straight into the sealed crimping terminalsI used a 12v crimp set like this, crimped on ends to the wires.

Yes, cut off O-rings.Sorry Lee, last question, just to check, when you say you crimped on ends to the wires, did you remove the O-rings from the female charger attachments, and feed the wires straight into the sealed crimping terminals
Good for battery life at this time of year, you'll probably get 3 nights of flagpole lights off a smaller battery, just don't switch them on before 10pm!Sorry Lee, last question, just to check, when you say you crimped on ends to the wires, did you remove the O-rings from the female charger attachments, and feed the wires straight into the sealed crimping terminals
