First service?

Hello,
We have a T6, with a diesel engine, purchased in April 2018. We had the oild changed at 16,000 miles. Can someone tell me when the first service is due. The manual is generic and is not very clear. Will a signal show on the dash?

Hi...Vw setup extended service schedules for normal driving ( every 2 years ) but if lots of stop start short journeys better to service every year ....but if you have MFD you can scroll down the menu and find...Service..that should if setup tell you last service and when next is due.

If you plan to keep your bus then I just keep it simple, oil/filter every 5k and a proper service every 10k.

Yes, did this, many thanks. The Service reads 17,800 miles / 215 days. I assume this means that it is due in 17800 miles (or 215 days), not overdue, as we have done almost 19000 miles. Excuse my ignorance and thanks for your help.

Hi @Mishman ...Yes double checked ..You can do 17800 miles or 215 day till service is due ...If your vehicle was dealer serviced they keep an electronic record...but if ( hope this correct ) quoting your Vin No to customer services they can also verify this....however as quoted if it’s a keeper more frequent services are better.. As I thought, thank you. If I add this 17800 to the current mileage of 18475 we obviously get 36,275. This seems a lot (although the van was new) , although we do not drive much on a weekly basis, more big trips as it's a camper van.

I was thinking more like every 25,000 miles.

Hi @Mishman .. 25000 miles would for me be 2 yrs ..I rather work on age ie every 12mths .personally I change my air filter every 6 mths So engine breath’s better ( you’d be amazed how dirty they get ) but as long as you never over shoot with services all should be fine.
