Fiamma Awning With Roof Rails

Hi @Andy_l so... I'll hopefully do a full post on this when I get time but I thought I'd chuck you a few pics (pretty happy with the result). So I essentially used the method suggested by @zombie_T6 above. Used steel rods with roofing washer (pinched this idea from another thread) to run through both the fiamma bracket adapter and roof rails. It was a bit fiddly and you still need to use silka adhesive on the van but I was happy with that compromise.

IMG_3464.jpg
The rear bracket sits further back on the adapter so I had to drill a small space for the steel rod to come up.

IMG_3469.jpg
Also had to drill into the rail so that it would sit over the new bolts on the fiamma bracket.

IMG_3472.jpg
End result :) you'll notice the plastic feet from the rails are missing from both front/back. I may cut those down and just tuck them under with a bit of sealant to finish it off - but I don't think it looks too bad as is to be honest. Let me know if you've got any questions.

Hi do you have a weather seal to the van for the awning or does rain drop through thanks?

Hi there @aorv - keen to understand how this is holding out and if you have done a full post on this yet? Looking to achieve the same as ordering the parts now in the next couple of days.

Hi @Dannyflash, so far so good! really happy with it. I've had both a roof box + bikes on my roof bars with no problems and the awning still feels solid. Not got round to doing a full post sadly with more detailed instructions, but happy to answer any questions you have!

Thanks for the reply! I, like you really didn’t want the hassle of drilling holes in the van! So, I went in dry and bit the bullet yesterday - I guess time will tell on its longevity
But I’m happy with how it turned out - just wished I’d thought ahead and painted the mounting brackets black
Not sure what rails you had installed, I have ‘vanstyle’ so only really for cosmetic purposes, but seeing as solar panels are relatively light, I utilised them for this purpose, so I carefully trimmed the mounting bracket for the roof rail to fit the fiamma and bonded this to the roof rail bracket, and then used the original mounting bolt for the rail. The rest of the install is as per fiamma instructions with Sikaflex etc.

Top work @Dannyflash, looks awesome! Yeah I sprayed the brackets black but they've already started to chip away to be honest so I think the best way would likely be to powder-coat them (not sure on cost of that). I actually upgraded my crossbars to Turtle ones which can take ~75KG weight, so I've still got the more flimsy ones knocking about, was it easy to fit the solars panel to them? What kind of setup do you have?

Def looks great @Dannyflash . Is that a 260 or 300 awning?

As it is aluminium, did you use etch primer first? I sprayed mine satin black and there has been no chipping (two years later)

Thanks! I’m pleased with it - just halfway through a trip to Bala and it’s not fallen off so all is good!!
Ahh cool, I think I’ll leave them silver for now.
Solar - I have 150w panel, going through a Victron 100/30 controller (planning to upgrade the panel at some point) and a single 120ah agm battery. And then just a nasa marine bm1 compact battery monitor.

Fairly new to this forum. I am Currently fitting a Fiamma F45s awning with OEM brackets to my SWB T6. However I want to keep my roof rails.

I’m finishing the job tomorrow. But thought I would upload detailed instructions to help others.
Shout if you have any questions.

Hi Steve
You just lock tight first nut on and tighten down with mole grips? Thread rod you remember what size you cut it to ?
Cheers going to have a go next week

So I think I have found a solution for the awning/roofbars/not drilling the vw brackets to the roof problem, took some serious looking but found some roof bar clamps from ABP Trading and yesterday they came in the post and fitted them. Very pleased with them so far. Enclosed screen shot of there web page and I hope it helps someone.View attachment 68331View attachment 68330View attachment 68329
please advise on these brackets - as they do not longer sell the same version as you have? did you have to go separately for aluminium bracket to hold the awning? thx
