DRLs and H7 upgrade

I fitted a pair of OEM H7 headlights. L

Swapped them with the bumper off, changed my setting on OBDEleven, all fine except that…

DRL don’t light up, instead the side lights come on when DRL is activated.

Puzzled. Can’t seem to find the setting / code I need to change to activate the proper DRLs at the bottom of the headlights…

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

What did your previous headlights do?

What position have you got the headlight switch in for DRLs?

Are the tail lights on with the side lights?

DRL on the H4 units where in the central cluster

Light position off (the bottom DRL bulb doesn’t light up in any position)

No back lights on. Just the side lights.

All, given up for tonight, will go for a reset tomorrow and see what happens.

BTW, DRL were set to be ON with the handbrake up (just in case someone suggests it )

Still no joy…

Can I check… obdeleven

1) I swapped the setting to have both dipped and full beam on. Worked fine

then

2) there is a setting to change the light setup from H4 to 7E/7F double headlights / h7… do I choose this?

Can you post your current BCM(09) coding?

Have you got 'parking lights on with Terminal 15 on' ?

That puts side lights on with the ignition, which may turn the DRLs off, but oddly doesn't account for no tail lights.

They should just plug in and work, with the exception of unticking 'force dipped beam off with high beam'

Agreed and that’s what I was hoping for. Really frustrated with OBDEleven’s tortuous access to long coding.

I did also change the headlight type to h7… not sure that helped.

Looks like my initial setting for byte 18 was 71… I changed it to 60 as my first coding… using obdeleven’s offered option (H7) which was obviously incorrect. Will try 69 tomorrow…

This is my 09 reading as it is now:

The coding suggests the function "Daytime running light" is not active.
BYTE 23, BIT 6

Do the position lights (sidelights) work independently on the appropriate switch position after switching them off as DRL's?

So, the fun continues.

Byte 18 switched to 69

Byte 23 / DRL activated

Sidelights are back on acting as DRLs.

Arrrghhhh

New read is:
