DPF Dilemma and the van is stranded. Any ideas?

I wasn't sure how if it was just very dirty or fully blocked as I've never seen inside one.BLOCKED
Am I right in saying that this would be inside the Cat? I'm starting to use Cat & DPF interchangably and getting myself confused.
If anybody is expecting to see "daylight" through a dpf , well good luck with that.
Even a brand new unused dpf will not show daylight , its just not how they are designed or indeed work.

However, yours must have a hole in it , as you confirmed that you had seen "heavy black smoke "
You should be able to see holes into the square sections which allow the flow through the DPF.
Should be able to see a brand new DPF image attached. From your image you can see that all of these sections are clearly filled in, hence why it certainly appears to be blocked.

I know its not the 'done' thing, but I got in touch with the previous owner.
He said that the van has a Stage 2 map.
He said the EGR was definitely mapped out, and said that the DPF was probably mapped out, but couldn't remember 100%.
I asked him if the DPF was hollowed out and he said that it hadn't been.
What would you advise?

But he could find out if he wanted to, or did the pixies do the EGR mapping and leave before sunrise.
Sounds like somebody was trying to squeeze blood from a stone and it all went tits up and they sold it.
I'm going to give the DPF a good clean.
The cleaner (Wynn's off-car) says to remove all sensors.
Can anyone please recommend the best way to cover the holes?
I was thinking of bungs, but I'm unsure of thread sizes and probably won't be able to get any today, being a Sunday!

If you haven’t tried to remove the sensors yet I’d give them a good soak with penetrating oil for a few days. If you rip the threads out you might be left with the options of expensive tap / die, welding new bosses in or replacing the DPF.
That gives you time to source the plugs
Put a shortish bolt in?

You probably already worked this out but , as far as I can see, you’re going to need to find out about the DPF mapping situation. A clean DPF won’t stay that way for long if it has been ‘mapped out’ as regens won’t be happening.
Technically not road legal when the emissions stuff is tampered with either although I imagine not many are discovered yet due to lack of interest/testing. Of course if it’s belching smoke at the MOT that’s a give away.
Feel for you. Sucks that people keep this stuff a secret when selling.
I was making great progress and it was all suspiciously easy until I came across the clamp between the DPF and silencer.
I don't know what's covering the nuts but it won't come off for love nor money.

OK, I’ve probably got another 95K to go to get to that stage, I’d check the pipe wall thickness near that stainless clamp because it will also react like the bolts have.
I've finally got the DPF removed. It's not fun doing it with the van on stands!
Anyway, the boss from one of the sensors (the 24mm one) has broken off.
What can I do now?
By the way, I've put a borescope down and the honeycomb looks clean and intact but lots of black liquid came out when I held the DPF vertically. I had tried a few cleaners whilst it was on the van though.
