Hi Al.What mileage does the van have on it? A new seal wouldn`t leak unless incorrectly fitted or the Druk ring (crank ring) had a wear groove in it.
Hopefully not. It is 140 6 speed 4 motion.Excessive crankcase pressure?
Thanks for the advice. Hopefully the specialist vw centre will be on the case after xmas.I would get them to check that the ring isn`t worn when the `next` oil seal is fitted. You shouldn`t be able to feel a groove in it with your fingernail, if so I would change it. It could of been fitted incorrectly too!
He is going to drive the van more tomorrow and get back to me. Am i right in thinking if there is excessive play that the seal won't hold ?Sound dubious. Who’s done the diagnosis? A noise can be from any number of components on a running engine.
I have to say it’s not a common thing tbh unless you’ve had engine issues before as in water in oil, low oil engine running, cheap oil or oil pump problemsHe is going to drive the van more tomorrow and get back to me. Am i right in thinking if there is excessive play that the seal won't hold ?
Hi NiknakDid you notice the noise before this lot of work ?
He also said the euro 5 is very reliable. I'm hoping it's something not so serious. The last vag engine that I remember having crank bearing issues was the petrol in the Skoda octavia vrs but that was due to carbon build up in the oil strainer and blocking it and starving the crank
