Hi having just returned from a 10 day tour of Cornwall in which we braved Ciara and Dennis (lovely couple really!) I have been trying to source a nearside rear door centre catch/stay thingymabob which snapped off when the wind caught the door and blew it beyong it's normal position, fortunately no other damage was done.
I am struggling to source a replacement - they are £86 on fleabay local VW specialist won't sell me one because I am not trade? and europarts don't stock, I have even tried find a part on the tinterweb but apparently no breakers have the part!! any ideas

Is the VW place TPS per chance? Its hit and miss whether they serve Joe public!

I’d go to you nearest VW commercial dealership or phone them if you’re along way away.

Thanks Paynewright yes it was TPS who were most unhelpful!

Hi,

Yesterday I noticed that the offside barn door opens 180 degrees without doing anything - i.e. having to press in the black catch to take it from default 90 degrees to 180 degrees.

I looked at the mechanism - initially seemed the 'arm' had come off, but I knew I would have noticed/heard this. I've since discovered that the black arm has actually pushed all the way in - you can pull it back out - however no matter what I can't connect it back to the main mechanism.

I assume something inside has given - thus probably a replacement job, unless someone can tell me different? All other parts are OK but presume I have to replace the whole lot?

Looking at this post seems expensive for what I need, but then again isn't everything!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for this, obviously my search powers are not as good as yours.

Post 11 on the above is exactly my situation - no matter what I can't get it to reattach - it's only the offside door though.

Van is in at an independent today for Cambelt change and MOT - I've shown them the issue, they're going to look at it and I'm sure will have the know how to sort.

Might be a case of Post 12 " ...In the end I unscrewed to whole bracket, clipped it in then screwed it back on"

Thanks

I undid mine out of curiousity and had the same
Issue.

My solution was to clamp the arm with a set of pliers so that they couldn’t go back into the door whilst closing the door on the catch. Took a couple of goes but it worked.

the difficulty comes from the way it lines up and how little extra space there is in the section where the two bits join.

Hi - mine is now fixed - yay. Originally tried brute force whereby pulling the arm out as far as could then trying to clip back in - was just fractionally short and simply could not get back in. Solution was to remove bracket on door - clip in and screw back on. I can't take the credit - was done by garage - they were a little perplexed re how it did what it did and indeed trying to connect it back - but worked it via solution of taking bracket off.
