Barn Door Halogen to Tailgate LED Rear Lights - pinout

well I never, cheers for that DXX.
From the current UK MOT Manual;
“ On some vehicles with LED rear lamps, a proportion of the stop lamp LED’s may extinguish when the rear fog lamp is illuminated. This is not to be regarded as a defect.“
I had to point out this line in the MOT Manual out to the MOT Tester, he was determined to give me another fail until he saw it.

A couple of questions before I start this upgrade....
I have the new connectors with 2 additional wires for twin reverse and twin fogs. How are these wires connected to the new plugs? Do I have to solder them close to the plug for the existing wire or just strip it and stick it in ? ( oooo, matron)

They should pin into thier own socket on the new plug

I run them into the roof and tap into the main loom in the roof void or you can go up over and down and tap into the loom closer to the opposite light, theres no way to connect them to the actual plug on the opposite side just pick up the feed wherever you want to, i use positap connectors normally as the current draw is minimal

Perfect mate, thanks. I think last time, I ran the cable under the bumper. I'll have to see if I can go the upward road on the Vivante

It’s one of those jobs that you can do anyway you see fit, I’ve only done it to empty Kombis/PVs so always just dropped the rear roof panel and done it that way, if it’s already converted then maybe not the best way to do it ??

Just had a quick look at my connectors . I was expecting no.2 to be empty, buts its no.1 on both. I think someone else had this configuration earlier in the thread but I don't think got an answer for the new connectors ?
Anyone the correct sequence?

Its because one side has 1 reverse light and no fog and the other has 1 fog and no reverse. Hence each side is missing either a fog or a reverse but not both, hence the 1 spare slot.

Sorry I don't know the pin numbers. I did have a diagram on a paper in my garage but I now cant find it.

I think this may be the solution.....

Just waiting for a de-pining tool and some posi-taps to arrive from the Land of Amazonia
