Awesome 3-in-1 Battery Bank - How I done It -

I've just noticed your one looks to have the UK safety shutters on the live and neutral pins of the socket / . . . . ?

maybe thats why no covers? - an upgrade/improvement.

HDF0483 . . . Looks like an upgrade to me.

And 20v 3A charger.... think that the same?

But it's still 60w anyway. (W=v*a)

It was delivering 56w, and the USB C charger I have (macbook charger) is giving it 64w, so charging with that at the moment. Subtly different. I'll get it back to 100% and plug in the 240v as the weather is much the same today (maybe slightly cooler) and see how well it does today.

I hadnt noticed the DC output on the other side.

It;'s a great bit of kit. Be good for camping weekends I reckon.

Yep I'll be taking both mine to the T6F summer camp / meet in a few weeks time.

Very handy and compact units...

I'm looking at the Monster version they are looking and bringing out.. 4xtimes more power. =)

I bought an Allpowers and it was useless. It would struggle to take a charge and sometimes if you switched the led light on the cooling fan would run (unit had not been in use and had not been charging - so not hot). The fan would not switch off until it was plugged in. It was sent back and after much faffing Amazon gave me a refund through their A to Z Guarantee. I tried to order two different types of Poweroak units from Amazon only for the seller to contact me after several days to tell me it was not in stock. I then had to cross my fingers for a prompt refund. I decided to avoid Amazon and I purchased a PPT powerpack 450+ from Portable Power Technology. Delivery was next day and the unit is fantastic. You get what you pay for.

The Power Boxes done a stellar job at T6F Summer camp this year.

they run all the Disco Tent, Lights, phone & Tablet charge and helped with the fridges when in transport. . .

Hi all,
Really interesting thread, already lots of questions answered :)

I’ve just joined this forum following buying my first VW van. I am working towards converting to a day van which can be off grid.

My question isare there any portable power solutions that would charge a Dometic fridge whilst also being charged via the 12v during travel? We want to be off grid but have not yet got leisure battery and I’m keen to find a good solution.

Thanks in advance
James

Dell's your man on this. However I suspect cost is the main issue, your going Lithium if you want real portability which will cost a big chunk out of a future leisure battery upgrade.

Thanks Blitz, will see if @Dellmassive has any words of advice.
I’ve been looking at the Jackery range Portable Power Products - Jackery which look ideal as you can charge them whilst they power your devices. A video on YouTube showed the 500W version powering a Dometic fridge for 60 hours which is pretty impressive -

only issue is they don’t seem to have a U.K. plug version.....

hey @Bubbashrimp & @Blitz

been a bit busy at work . . . . . . so sorry for the delay.

yes the ALLPOWERS in this thread will do that, run the fridge and charge at the same time . . .

if you need more power . . . . . you could make your own battery box.

like this . . . . . .

you havent actaully said what the fridge spec is yet . . .?

@Dellmassive @Blitz Thanks for your response, no chance I’d be able to build my own, that’s pretty impressive.

I’ve gone with the 500W Poweroak and Dometic fridge, initially I’m impressed although I still can’t quite understand what extra you get for your money with Dometic compared with other compressor/ cooler solutions at half the price. This said it lasted about 40 hours before cutting off.

Long term I would like to get the leisure battery installed, however I haven’t managed to find anyone who can do it this side of Christmas, any recommendations on here would be good? I’m on the South Coast near Brighton. Thanks again
