Are EVs the way forward?

This is about the same length as the Kisin video. Picks up on many of the topics discussed.

Which basically is, if you & your family are literally starving to death & living in abject poverty, then climate change (quite rightly) isn’t high on your list of priorities.
I think many people that are struggling to feed every family member, to hear their houses and battle black mould etc will still worry about what pollution is doing to them too.
Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah died at nine years old due to air pollution in London. The family lived 25 metres from the South Circular Road in Lewisham, south-east London - because the housing there is cheap.
They were clearly managing food etc but you can’t uproot away from work if you can’t afford higher rent or a mortgage.

Lots of people worry about the air they breathe- it affects all of our health now (and therefore all of our wallets as healthcare is not cheap).

Poor Ella was either the only 1 person recorded of dying from air pollution between 2001 and 2021 or she died after 2021?
Considering London is our most polluting city. IMG_7469.webp

The model is wrong -globe model insists 8 “inch per mile square of curvature ,however earth is measured flat ,
if the earth is anything other than an (oblate) sphere(oid) then our universal view is wrong. .

I’m confused, did you alter someone else post again?
He did for levity and highlighted the point however it is disappointing that there seems to be a reluctance on the part of a moderator to accept that anything we do in the West will go anyway towards countering global warming, this on a thread asking "are EVs the way forward".
Returning to the the thread theme and thankfully EVs have already become mainstream and through a combination of legislation in the various UK city centres and used bargain prices show little sign of disappearing from our roads.
France seems to have the idea with Renault producing the 4, 5, Megane and Scenic with decent sized batteries and Citroen and Peugeot via Stellantis producing worthy contenders.
I'd go so far as to say that we're probably already at the point where affordable new and the used EV "bargain" have overtaken sales of ICE powered cars when it comes to people actually buying rather than leasing a vehicle.

If you gave your plug a wash every now and again maybe you wouldn't need to be so shy about plugging it in in view of others.

What's being a mod got to do with it? Do you view mods as skivvies - we should clean up the day to day crap on the forum, but never express an opinion - or are you just trying to silence me because I don't agree with your view?

How has this got anything to do with the debate, moderator status and someones opinion are two very separate things !

If i give my opinion and it doesnt align with yours will you then state facts about an admin not accepting {insert thread topic here} .........................

@Bav I think you've definitely got an opinion on things which clashes with the level playing field that a moderator is there to provide.
Maybe I'm wrong and a moderator isn't the same as a referee but if that's the case and we're not debating topics on a level playing field then do we really need a moderator who's there simply to align the thread with their agenda and remove the odd "handbags" incident when called out on it.
I don't think of moderators as skivvies, normally, I don't normally think of them at all, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the efforts of all who contribute to the the running of the forum that's just me being complacent I guess, however a moderator who wades in like some pre crime inquisition is just boorish.
If I've managed to upset @Pauly as well now then feel free to delete my account and shun me at Busfest this year.

Im not upset i just dont see how someones moderator status makes an iota of difference, everyone is allowed to have an opinion, some choose to share it and some dont, accepting an invitation to become a moderator and then freely giving your time to help me and all the other users out does not make a difference to what someone can and cant post.

Moderator invitations come without strings attached and with no restrictions, i am just grateful to have a team that volunteer their time and help me out running the forum as its not possible to do on your own.

China is already way ahead of us in that department and making our efforts irrelevant.
Really? China produces just under a third of the total CO2 output of the world & is currently building more coal fired power stations than any other country. Over 50% of china’s electricity is produced from coal. It’s true that China also produces more renewable power than most, but this isn’t to replace the fossil fuels, it’s as well as.
For the record, we no longer produce electricity from coal in the UK & the majority of our electricity is from renewable sources or nuclear.

China increases its C02 output every year by more than the UKs total output.
According to my pal who’s job it is to put in the infrastructure for handling the wind power Scotland produces Scotland produces more electricity than it can use and a lot of it gets sent down south for England to use.
