Dear tradesmen and women...

I am currently looking to replace my now defunct impact driver and drill set as I can no longer source the batteries.

I have been looking at the New Makita Brushless range with the 18.v batteries and I also like the look of the blower that takes the 2 batteries..

Any thoughts/recommendations?

I have a few LXTs and they are great but, I did have a chuck go on me on one drill about a year in but I’m hoping it was an anomaly.

They brilliant mate, I have all Makita kit and majority are now brushless..
Try and got for 5ah battery as they have get better response, depending on usage.

They lost the power race mate, when they sat back on bum once Li was relaeased.

We have both in work and I pick up the dewalt every time, small makita stuff has no belt clip which I hate and the big stuff has awful triggers really difficult to control speed and flex volt steps up the power race ......

Nah dewalt all the way
Black and decker crap! I am makitaman0 on eBay, I have everything Makita, and am in the process of changing/upgrading to brushless and the bits I have (impact, sds, jigsaw)they are all an improvement over the previous models.

They do come with a belt clip but most people that work hard enough only put them down for lunch!

It's the 18v sds in particular I don't like the trigger on, you squeeze it gently then it just explodes in life at full belt

There’s a man that can’t hold back full release....

+1 for Makita cordless stuff.
DeWalt were caught well and truely napping with thier battery technology while Makita nailed it first time with Lithium Ion.
Makita brushless tools are so powerfull and robust as well as being good value for money.
Dewalt still make the best small lazer level and portable table saw though, Bosch make the best planer and 2kg SDS drill, Hiachi make the best 190mm sircular saw, Fein make the best multi tool and Calsberg probably make the best lager. ( just my opinion ).

Mafell and festool for me.

Worth every addition penny, a bit like German vans...!

Sorry, hands up !!.
Mafell and Festool are a different league, and I only really come across them in high end joinery shops.
I certainly wouldn't buy them for some of the donkeys on my sites to use.
Having a Festool tool is like having a T6. I,d only want to take it to really nice jobs where it wouldn't have work to hard, get dirty or damaged.

Totally agree; real trades persons use festool kit.
Like @Bryn23 during his time as a highly skilled cabinet maker.
Makita...... sounds to much like “Blue Peter”.
