How did you route the wires into the door, did you have to drill a hole?
No, the camera comes up to the right of the lock barrel then the cable travels along the trim and goes up through the same rubber bung as the number plate light
I have the bog standard VW unit so been looking for something different for a while with out spending a fortune, at least this way I get to blame @tomosllyr if it’s rubbish :D
This is what I'm starting to get worried about! However still really happy with mine...

I am also really tempted with one of these......sounds like steering wheel controls, front and rear sensors are all plug and play with an extra wiring loom but the only thing I am confused about is why the original Mic is not able to be used??

Have you checked if it will work with original mic? It may be worth asking
I've bought the external mic because I don't have an original one, and was advised the built in one can struggle in vans. I've mounted the external one just above driver's seat and it works really well.

I haven't no, I assumed that's why you bought one. I had an aftermarket stereo in my old van and I couldn't use the existing Mic on that unit. It was never as good as the og Mic (I had a few people say it was very muffled and could here more road/ background noise than voice) hence my reservations.
I should send them a message to see what's what.

It will work with the original mic as far as I know, they just advised its pretty shite so worth the extra external one. I personally don't talk on the phone when driving so no an issue for me either way.

Fitted the new head unit today, first impressions are very good. Fitting is straightforward and I have to say no issues with brightness or sound quality. I fitted the dab bits as suggested by @Dundee_Kev, will take it for a spin tomorrow to see if the signal drops out less than before. Started to fit the reversing camera, not sure the lead is long enough to reach the front but will continue that over the weekend. All the steering wheel buttons work and I installed the suggested mic as the inbuilt one is a bit quiet when testing a call. Not used apple car play before but seems to work well with the phone connecting via Bluetooth

I have the £180 unit in my basket. Wondering if I'm gonna suffer without the max ram/rom. I dunno what apps I could possibly fill it up with to the point it is overwhelmed.

Has anyone bought the ACS-VW840 / 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM / Octa Core version and running it happily?

I'm intrigued to see if Carista works on it also? Anyone tried it?

You will have forgotten the extra money in x years when the unit is still working and snappy. You will remember the money you didn't spend when its slowed down.

You shouldn't be worried about extra storage space but the extra RAM is always important.

I feel the days of the shite pioneer unit i currently have fitted are numbered ;)

What's the warranty on these ?

I'm planning on putting obd11 and vagdpf on it over the weekend so I can feedback on those. I dont use Carista though.

This was my exact thinking when I chose the higher spec one

Don't quote me, but I suspect it won't run. These android units tend not to see the dongle. You need to use a certain Chinese dongle and then it'll only run on torque app I think.

I know the android units in my transport r and astra won't see my dongles.

That’s the one I bought but to be fair I only expect to run Waze and listen to music/ radio- haven’t had it in long enough to comment on performance

I would imagine at this rate they will be out of T6 variant stock by the time I have made up my mind.

I can't seem to find warranty info on @AndroidCarStereoUK website. They don't seem to have posted on the forum since the awkwardness the other day with @evansa 's initial issues with their unit that was dimly lit, tinny in sound and hot like the sun (but apparently that's normal)- I wonder what has come of that situation?

Pay with a credit card, keep the invoice, consumer protection assured.

I dont have time to fit one right now, but am very interested. Its convenient for me to hold back right now but want to see some longer term usage reviews. Two things I noticed are no warranty information on their site and also no address details which is of course legally required in the UK. I see they are on Companies House though, so that might just be an oversight.
