ACC / Auto Braking

Hi guys,
I have ACC on my T6.1 and a couple of times now it's auto braked without the need to.
Once reversing into a parking space over a low kerb stone.
And today pulling out of a lay by, there was a slight dip coming out onto the road, and it slammed the brakes on as I was half way out showing that I was going to hit the road. Ground clearance was fine, no obstacles.
Any ideas?

They all do that sir!
It’s the VAG collision avoidance, wait until it anchors up half way round a sharp bend, because its just “seen” the warning chevron sign, that’s fun.

Between that and the constant beeping from the parking sensors, I’m not sure what’s worse but both make me want to sell

Are you on standard wheels and suspension?

Is the ride hight changed from factory?

You can look at having it re. Calibrated.

Some garages and MOT places can recalibrate....it needs a specialist machine, a bit like a Hunter wheel alignment machine, but added the ADAS stuff.

I’d suggest realignment too. The way people park by feel these days, and with modern plastic bumpers springing back, it might have been knocked out of line a bit and you wouldn’t notice.
I only have it on the golf, not the van, and it’s been almost perfect. Maybe it suits cars better than vans or maybe VW tweaked it to be more aggressive, as they apparently did with stop-start.

Yeah, I turned the rear off, the van has an aftermarket towbar fitted, obviously not coded in, and kept slamming the brakes on every time I tried reversing when the bike rack was on the towbar, first time it auto braked I thought I hit a lamppost I hadn’t seen!
