204PS 4motion DSG - vibration at low revs

UPDATE on my issues:

I have had the problem quite a while and from reading this forum was 99% sure it was the DMF but still drove 10,000km before I did anything about it. During this 10,000km of misery the EGR valve went and I had to add coolant Every 250km.

I finally bit the bullet and left the van in for repair while I was off on two weeks vacation recently. The DMF, Clutch and EGR valve was changed, gearbox service and the under plate stainless steel guards I had fitted by VW had the dents hammered out. It cost me 4000 euros all in which is fine as the van is owned with no debt and owes me nothing at 130Tkm driving. The only issue I have now is the annoying start/stop system no longer works but that may be because my battery like the van is from 2017 and low after two weeks of not driving, the leisure batteries are at 40% so a run of 300km to Frankfurt next month should sort that.

Hi all,
I am revisiting this thread because I am having exactly the same issues on a 2017 204 4motion. Vibrating at low revs in high gears. Just got it back from a trusted garage that has had the DSG checked at a gear box specialist, the DMF is working fine, it was found to have some prop shaft issues but he had replaced the centre bearing and the CV joint. There is no difference. Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
They changed exactly the same thing for me the first time with no results, this time I changed the DMF and its like a new car again.

I'm having this issue now. in 6th and 7th between 1000 and 2000 rpm.
Slow acceleration between 1k and 2k rpm and it vibrates / low groaning noise.
Let off the accelerator, no noise. Put my foot down no noise. Its only when I gently accelerate.
Has it been conclusively decided that the DMF is the cause?

Not sure about conclusively, but that certainly seems to be the general consensus.

Unrelated to this, I've had a new EGR, new Biturbo and a new DPF recently and that's made no difference to the noise. I've also double checked noise insulation etc and that's all fine. When we have some spare cash it's the next thing I'll get the mechanic to look at. It's annoying but not debilitating, so no mad rush to get fixed.

Same, had the EGR and DPF done, DSG service carried out.
Just a bummer as I've got a new Transporter coming and dont want to sell this one with an issue.

Hi guys, sounds like I have the same issue as some of you!
2017 204 DSG 4Motion, getting vibrations through the van at around 1500rpm, mainly in the higher gears. Started happening only in 7th a few months ago, but now happens in 6th and 5th too. Only seems to happen when I’m already in the said gear and lightly press the throttle, say when I’m just keeping up with the flow of traffic. If I release the throttle the vibrations disappear, if I floor the throttle the box kicks down and I take off like a rocket-ship also with no vibration! I was thinking possibly DMF issue but it doesn’t seem to be noisy (any noisier than before) on idle. The van is on 82000 and as far as I’m aware has never had a clutch or flywheel change.
Has anyone had this issue and can shed some light on what it was?
Thanks in advance

Still on the search..
I had the prop shaft repaired and re-balanced at a special shop that only does refurbishing and balancing of shafts. 2/3 joints were gone. At least I was told so.. Cost was 720€ compared to new set of shafts (T64M has 2 with 3 joints total) at around 2K€.
No change.
Replaced all 3 engine mounts and all 3 rear gearbox mounts yeasterday.
Still the same.
DMF does not make any strange sounds at idle at all.
The most apparent is the 7th gear at around 1700rpm when accelerating on higway from 80km reduced speed limit.
My mechanic friend is hopeless at this point.

Just as a bit of closure to my post above, I had a new flywheel fitted and the vibrations have all disappeared and the van is smooth and quiet again. Hope that helps someone else in the same situation. Cheers
