This office van conversion would be ideal for any person working on the field and requiring 240V power, heating and needing to work with computers etc. It is ideal for Highways work due to being self sufficient, I have a quote of £204.00 to add Chapter 8 Highway Signs for this T6. I have also used it as a GNSS Base on the field by putting a magnetic roof frame.

The van can also be easily reconverted into a Camper-van as the current conversion already has been insulated, lined, allows to fit a 1200mm rock and roll bed in SCOTSEAT rails, electrical work including top of the range electrical components, 230Amp of power, 3000W inverter, solar panel, diesel heater, fridge/frezer, integrated storage, waste water tank and swivel seats.

Details:

I converted this T6 to a site office, I am a Civil Engineer and specialise in site engineering. Not being able to work in projects due to welfare facilities and working in remote areas I wanted to create a Van office that would allow me to be productive at all times on the field. I converted a Vauxhall Movano first and learned what works and what does not and then I planned this conversion with the idea of fitting things in away that the T6 could be easily re-converted as a camper Van.

The conversion cost around £12,500.00, the be-spoke nature of the conversation meant that not many standard camper van conversion specialist would be willing to take the project on. But finally I found a conversion specialist KTD NE that was happy to engage and they did a great job!

Site office Van current specifications:
  1. Fully insulated (TRI-ISO Super 10+)
  2. Deadening (Sound proofing through out)
  3. Fully lined roof and sides
  4. 2 x 2m length multirail from SCOTSEAT (alluminium rails for seats and rock and roll beds, this is one of the future proofing specification to allow for the Van to be fitted with a 1.2m wide rock&roll bed or any other combination of seating if required)
  5. Vinyl flooring (This has signs of wear and may need to be replaced if the Van is to be used as a camper Van for aesthetic reasons)
  6. Swivel seats for both passenger and driver
  7. Electrical work. From experience I realised that standard leisure batteries capacity was not enough to meet my needs and calculated that I needed to be able to have at least 2 days (16hrs) of electrical power to be able to work a full week without recharge to be completely self-sufficient. My calculations required a minimum of 200Amps. I fitted 2 x Odyssey PC1800 214 AmpHr Extreme Series in parallel as the batteries cannot be depleted below 40%. Having all this power has proved very helpful as I have no need to book hooked camping site slots as I only need to recharge once a week. With this in mind I installed the following system:
    1. CTEK M300 Marine Battery Charger (AC hook up under the bonnet near battery)
    2. CTEK-Charger | CTEK D250SA Dual DC-DC Charger (Charges batteries while driving and Van battery is protected from discharge)
    3. CTEK-Smartpass | CTEK Smartpass 120 Power Manager (Trickle charges batteries from Solar Panel in Roof, in the summer reduces hook up charges for weeks)
    4. 2 x Odyssey PC1800 214 AmpHr Extreme Series
    5. Clipper BM-2 battery monitor (Battery monitor with a 200Amp fuse connection)
    6. 125W Alpex Solar PV Panel
    7. 3000W (6000W Peak) Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter 12V DC To 240V AC
    8. 1000W Pure Sine 12V DC to 240V AC Backup Inverter
  8. Integrated extras:
    1. MV Airo 2KW Diesel Heater Kit under van. Complete with under body mounting plate, ducts and vents
    2. SIM card controller for MV Airo (Controls heating by calling or texting)
    3. Domestic Waeco CRX 50 Fridge 12V fridge
    4. VW T5 T6 WASTE WATER 203W TANK
    5. SAFETYON Pressure Cleaner Car Wash Pump Portable 100W High Pressure Self-Priming Spray (Pressure pump connected to 36L tank for pressure washing)
    6. 4G Roof Antenna & Huawei B315 SIM Router (External 4G antenna increases coverage and intensity, router provides WIFI in the Van)
    7. iBoost WiFi Booster (Directional WIFI Antenna that allows for connection to WIFI Hot Spots free like McDonald's restaurants to paid ones like BT WIFI)
    8. LED Lamp 300 Lumens at top of side door with on/off switch comes on when doors are open
    9. LED Lamp centre of roof in the middle of the Van 1200 Lumens with 3 levels of intensity to switch manually. Bright light for working

    2. Microwave
    3. Epson A3 Printer
    4. Black pocket storage hangs on the back of the passenger seat
    5. Thule sliding roof rails
    6. Thule XT Medium Roof box
    7. Thule WanderWay VW T6 rear door carrier (2 bikes, can be extended to 4 bikes)
  10. Internal panelling and dividers:
    1. Lined ply cupboard for fridge/freezer has dimensions to allow to add a sink and/or gas cooker on the top without additional work. At the moment there is a desktop
    2. Lined ply cover for Electrical/Inverter/batteries over the right back wheel arch creates alcove for A3 Printer and space for 27inch Monitor, this could be converted into a wardrobe and the cover for batteries and electrical board including inverter could be slimmed down by taking off one of the leisure batteries and one of the inverters if not required. (Note that the width of this lined plywood cover as is allows for a 1200mm rock and roll bed to be installed on the SCOTSEAT floor rails)
    3. Lined 300mm cupboard on the top of back left wheel arch. This will need to be remove to add a 1200mm rock and roll bed
    4. 900 x 400 x 900 storage area with heavy duty sliding self to carry equipment and 140mm opening for long items. This storage creates a top self for other storage use or act as potential bed frame as it is.
