Wing Mirror - Lane Visibility Issue

I recently had to replace my entire drivers side wing mirror. (Replaced with genuine VW Parts)

It's manual fold with electrical adjustment.

I have adjusted the mirror fully over to the right and i am still looking at the side of the van. When I was on the motorway I couldn't see the lane next to me.

Has anyone else had this issue? Have I missed something?

Perhaps the limits left/right are not adjusted (or have moved).
Any different if you run the mirror both fully left and fully right (might hear even some crunching) - and then check the view again?

Yes, I have tried this to no success I am afraid.

Then need to "center" the mirror glass manually. Drive the mirror to the "other" end and then push gently the mirror glass by hand so that adjuster (behind the mirror) clicks a few steps.
