Which Koni shock absorbers are compatible with H&R springs?

Hello,

Since my strut mounts are making noise and the van has 140,000 km on it, I'm looking for new shock absorbers with a slight lowering, no more than 40 mm. I tow a 2000 kg caravan on vacation.

I'm from Germany and enjoy reading along here.

In Germany, Bilstein products are very popular, but you often read that the B6/B8 models are too stiff. Eibach springs are also commonly used, which always require TÜV approval.

Here, Koni/H&R have good reputations.

VW T6 Multivan, front-wheel drive, 5-speed manual transmission, 3000 kg, 1610/1575 kg axle load.

My question is, what should I use?

Koni Special Active 8705-1392/8205-1009
Koni Special 87-2645/82-2542
H&R 29270-4 (from 1551/1551 kg)
H&R 29270-2 (from 1551/up to 1550 kg)

Then there are also yellow Koni shocks from Deimann in Germany, externally adjustable at the front, 2 cm shorter, supposedly very comfortable, but very expensive, around €1100.

I read that CRS Suspension produces its own springs in different stiffness levels. Very good, unfortunately, there's a TÜV (German vehicle inspection) issue in Germany.

Please excuse my Google Translate English.

Thanks from Germany.

Regards

Not sure why but I always thought my CRS installed H&R/koni setup was TUV approved. May have made that up but they can confirm

Yes, the H&R springs have TÜV.

I meant this has no TÜV in Germany:
CRS Performance - Koni Definition kit

Must admit I thought certain aftermarket parts needed TUV approval even on a UK registered vehicle if travelling through Germany, Austria etc? More for insurance purposes/roadside checks (appreciate UK vehicles don’t need an MOT equivalent check from foreign countries if just travelling there temporarily).
I remember look at some alloys and there blurb suggested this. Maybe it’s part of the sales pitch instead of hard and fast rules?

In Deutschland gibt es zwei Arten: die ABE-Zertifizierung (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis) und die TÜV-Zertifizierung (Vereinigung Technischer Prüfer).

Ohne Führerschein ist das Fahren nicht erlaubt.

We’re supposed to have driving licenses here too, although not everyone gets that memo

Yes, okay. Unfortunately, I don't need that suspension. My actual question is: Which Koni shock absorbers combined with which H&R springs are the best fit for my T6?

Ah yes, sorry, I seem to have got sidelined 🫣

I was focusing on whether my CRS kit was TUV approved and missed the point that it’s a H&R kit (albeit with koni adjusters on the front). It’s very good by the way 😁

I can thoroughly recommend talking to CRS and let them know your requirements and they will recommend the best option which I believe they will ship. Coals to Newcastle comes to mind there!

Ok the Special active dampers we wouldn't recommend with H&R lowering springs , Use the specials and use the - 4 springs so it doesn't go too low , These will both be much more comfortable than B6 or B8 . It will all be TUV approved them .

Hello, Thank you for your message. Do the Koni Special shocks need to be adjusted before installation? Rebound damping? Or should they be set as delivered? Thanks

Hope the translation is ok
