Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Always leave something to mark your pitch , saves some other barnyard stealing it .
A lesson learned 😁. A collapsible cone already coming via Amazon for our next visit. I assumed most folk would park on the number they'd been texted. Only the 2nd time at a C&C site. First one was Blackpool and nobody pinched that one. Maybe they weren't brave enough 🤔😀

Travelled down to Cambridge for a couple of nights on the Caravan and Motorhome Club site in Cherry Hinton. Nice little nostalgia trip as I was stationed in Cambridgeshire as a young airman and lived in Cambridge for a couple of years when I stepped back into civvy street. Was dark when we arrived so not had a nosey around but site seems nice enough ….

That's genuinely ridiculous. I thought the idea of pre booking a numbered pitch was that you could leave it for the day without worrying about anyone else taking it because it's actually allocated to you.
But they are happy to double sell it, assuming you'd already paid for the pitch in full.
Did you get an upgrade or refund or anything as an apology?
My head would have exploded.

Similar thing happened to me the other week at Lakeside, Castle Howard. Booked in via pitchup for 2 nights and was told by the lady in the office that my allocated pitch would be left in the office window as they were closing for the night. Turned up at 7pm and saw the note with pitchup.
Arrived at the pitch to find it occupied by a big smart MH ! As the chap was outside I asked him if he had the right pitch. He took the hump and said it was his pitch and he had been there for 2 days. All fine as the site was pretty empty so just took a vacant one.
Called in at the office to let them know the next day and the lady admitted she made a mistake, but didn't say sorry !
Didn't let it spoil our stay but the MH guy was clearly not a very personable chap

Memories of interactions with some of the site staff during our admittedly fairly limited visits to C&C sites was another reason that I didn't bother renewing membership after the 'covid extesion' ran out.

Only into the city centre to drop off and later collect my son from his film making course. Not driven the can for a week as have had cold/flu and working from home. Loved every second of what is usually a mundane drive in a car. 😍

Off up to the Peaks today, outside Bakewell, for a few days, just me and my dog. All my travel plans for the summer got well and truly stuck in the U bend of life due to having a stroke in July, so this is a much needed mini break.

Have a great time fella

What products do you use to get that shine ? I need some of that
It hasn’t actually been cleaned for a couple of weeks but thanks.

It’s last wash I topped up with Gyeon Wet coat…. IMG_3559.webp

I use this after washing every 4 weeks, and it just tops up the Gyeon CanCoat ceramic layer. I rate it highly and I think it’s as good as anything else of similar product and it’s extremely easy to use. After washing with your shampoo and you’ve rinsed off, while the panels are still wet, spray this over a panel at a time and leave it for only a few seconds and then again rinse off with loads of water, going over and over the panel with the pressure washer and it will activate and you notice immediate beading and water repellency. Once all the van/car is done then dry off normally with a microfibre.

It will last for 3 months, but as my van isn’t a daily and only used for holidays or days out it probably lasts a little longer than if it was used daily. It can also be used on the glass, which some other ceramic sprays can’t do, and works brilliant on wheels as you can spray into all the gaps and hard to reach areas.

If you can be arsed, I’d highly recommend doing a full detail of the van, snow foam, wash, iron/clay bar/and polish if needed and then 2x coats of Gyeon CanCoat Evo…..

This stuff, I think is extremely good! And again super easy to apply, and it’s the closest thing to a full ceramic coating from a pro you will get on your driveway doing it yourself.

Again after the full wash/detail, dry the van and then spray the CanCoat onto a microfibre pad and just wipe it over the panels in straight lines doing a panel at a time. Leave it for 2 mins and then buff off with a seperate microfibre. It needs a good couple of days to cure fully and shouldn’t really get wet within the first 24 hours but it gives an extremely good shine and gloss to the finish and the water beading is brilliant. And this coating should last a year before needing to do it again! Any dirt or rain just literally falls off the panels and it almost constantly looks like it’s just been washed, nothing will stick to it!

If you can’t be bothered with the CanCoat then the Wet coat can be used as a standalone product as a protective coating, but it works great paired with the CanCoat.

I’m not a car detailer or professional in any shape or form so others may have a much better idea of the products and have different opinions but I don’t use anything else now for the protection side of things on the camper or the cars.

The wet coat is about £25 for a litre which lasts a good few washes…. And the CanCoat is about £40 for 200ml.

Hope this helps

Thank you mate
Lots to learn , I've still not tried ceramic .
I'm a single bucket and a watering can man at the mo :p
😆 well as I said, I’m no means a pro but any questions I’m happy to help out!

Iv tried a fair few different products and methods over the last few years with my cars and now the van, and it’s got so much easier with better results with the current products available.
