Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

IMG_0564.webpChased off the beach by storm Amy, waves getting bigger, wind getting stronger, me getting wetter I looked like I was filming a Coldplay video by the end. Back in the warm for some homemade soup and sourdough. Rest of household still has the Rona so back to care duties. Lol.

Looks like we picked the wrong weekend for our Dales trip.

Heber Farm C&CC Certificated Site. The roof was pulled down after dinner was washed up. Better safe than sorry.

Speaking of roofs, we were proceeding carefully considering the conditions to the end of the M65 when we were passed by a Silver T6 or T5.1, with VW bike rack, and with pop top flapping up at the front by about a foot, at 70mph!!!!! How he didn't realise or hear it I don't know.

Flashed him several times and he pulled into Lane 1, and acknowledged my flash, but he still proceeded at speed off into Colne, so I didn't get a chance to warn him.

Hope he realised before it was too late!

jesus!!

i thought that (the first photo) was a Klan meeting...
It is very Klanesque, I do appreciate a nice St Georges flag, but there are hundreds of them. The folk hired a cherry picker to put the Union flag on his back.
Be interesting what it looks like tonight after a visit from Amy!
She will have more power than Walsall council...

She is in the poptop so hopefully it won’t be too windy, forecast 45 mph winds in this area but we appear to have quite a sheltered spot so fingers crossed, we are now in the pub so we are staying now whatever!IMG_6810.webp

Whereabouts? I'm heading over to Buxton area later so I can meet some friends (@Nige_g ) in the morning to go hiking.

@Dannyb6467. That looks lovely. We're probably doing Greece again in the van next year and might include Corfu this time but need to do a bit more research closer the time. Grateful if you could post reviews of any 'proper' campsites that you stay at whilst there. I suspect you'll be savvy enough to pick more remote wild camping spots but watch out for crossing the old bill while you're doing it - they're not too keen and the response can be punitive. Happy trails.

We really want to do Greece again. 😍 Despite the scary experience of once getting stopped on a moped in Kos. 'Where iss you cask?' he said. Not understanding a word he said I just tried to look humble and mumble. I had visions of a re-run of 'Midnight Cowboy' where that bloke got beaten to death in a police cell and never heard of again! Cask, Cask he shouted patting his head. The penny finally dropped, oh, helmet! (This despite the fact that nobody else buzzing past was wearing one). Then a Greek lady came out of her shop, tore him off a strip and she sent me on my way. 🤣

Daylight has revealed more T6's and 6.1's here at Greenhills than you could shake a shitty stick at, including a nice looking grey one with forum decals. View attachment 264322
Will give the top secret forum illuminati recognition wave later, see if it's returned.
Im booked to return last week of October, just me and my Dog.

Our plans for the summer went South besause I had a stroke, so im having a cheeky late season week away with Bruce.

I love Bakewell and so does Bruce as its about the most dog friendly town in Christendom, so we're both looking forward to it. Will do a spot of estate agent surfing while I'm there.

Black knowl C&MH site near Brockenhurst in the New Forest
Nice site clean facilities as you would expect but site is packed
Just as a side note now I've tried it out myself and another couple of members got a FOC replacement awning tunnel for the vango versos as the old tunnels that zip in seemed to short at the point they connected to the van at 2mt long Vango must have realized this and after complaining to them supplied FOC a tunnel at 2.4 mts long more the standard length
So a big thank you to Vango

Home, after 3 weeks touring round northern Spain and South of France; highlights include Monaco, various Roman ruins including those at Orange, Monet’s Garden at Giverny (he’s let it go a bit), Navel museum at Toulon, and putting 2284 miles on the van with no emls or adblue warnings - here’s a couple of pics from the trip
