Eurotunnel again this morning...
8hrs of toll free driving to mid France in a free municipal campervan stop. It's already hit 29 degrees!

Tomorrow I'll continue the journey to Catalonia, for about 8 or so days relaxing on the beaches, snorkeling etc. Just me - already had this planned and booked.

It's a stroke of luck that you were able to park next to that giant black arrow else we'd not be able to tell which was your van.
Monday night stayed with friends at their house at Foyers on the side of Loch Ness.
Then yesterday we had the day at Rosemarkie and the evening watching dolphins off Chanonry point.
Then we parked up just round the corner from Cromarty overlooking the sea for the night.

Up in the Lake District for a week, and with a decent day forecast we took the van up to Honister Slate mine. For a bit of exercise we walked up to Haystacks, and then down Scarth Gap Pass to Gatesgarth Farm, making our way back to the van on the road up the pass.

2nd day of the drive down to Catalonia and the Costa Brava. No toll roads at all but it's a long slog.
It hit 37 degrees somewhere in Southern France earlier today, thank god for climate control - AC on at set to 20 degrees... Bliss!!
Impressive bug haul for the first day!
Now parked up at one of my favourite free spots from last year near Sa Riera, 10 minutes walk from 3x beaches. I've already been for a swim to freshen up and cool off!
I'll be here for a few days then probably book a nearby campsite for some luxury and to give it a test for when I bring the missus and her daughter down here in August. I'm down here until next Friday morning. Temperatures aren't meant to drop below 26 all the time I'm here!

Been chasing Orca again since 1600hrs.
Literally just watched them for the final time pass us by at Rosehearty right in front of the rocks where we were standing. No pics as it’s virtually dark.

Wow amazing. Never been that close. I did unexpectedly get within touching distance to a seal many years ago. Cardigan 30 pus years ago. I was watching seals at Popit Sands out past the old abandoned life boat station, out on little pinnacles that were barley above the water mark like little stepping stones except the water was quite deep. The seals where quite a way out but could see me. I slapped the water a few times and a few more heads popped up from the water looking in my direction. We just observed each other from a afar. Then soddenly an unexpected splash from behind. Their it was within touching distance. I crapped my self and so did the seal! I felt exposed and vulnerable as it was partially between me and my escape. Both of us exchanged a fleeting glimpse and astonishment, much bigger than I expected and it in its element. It was only about one metre away! Down it went and across on to a less exposed rock a leap away did I. I regret being so startled but that is easy in hindsight, it was investigating me not as a human but curious to see what it was. It plopped up a few hundred meters or more back with the others all still watching me. Craning their necks.
These pods of Orca are chomping their way through the seal population. I do love watching seals though.
This Orca pod is currently 9 strong, there’s another pod nearby that has split into 2 groups which in total I think makes another 10.
It’s amazing that we have these roaming wild up and down the coast of Scotland.

Tbh it's a bit too hot here at the moment, it was 24 degrees overnight. Sweaty! But at least I can go and cool off in the sea.
Rain and thunderous clouds here at the moment. We are expecting 2 ton of coal to be delivered up at the top close to the roadside, I bet it will poor down and thunder and lightning too.

Good because the seals are chomping their way through the salmon population. And their numbers have exploded.
With our rivers being pretty much devoid of water all season the salmon can’t enter the rivers and as a result stay in the sea where they are heavily predated on by the seals and dolphins.
I noticed the pic of the dolphins it had a salmon in its mouth.
I ran a wee fishing boat in the Tay estuary for many years and watched the dolphins feed very close up.
They would work in 2 different pods.
One pod would wrangle the salmon or sea trout so they started to jump out the water and the other pod would come in at speed at 90 degrees to them and pick off the salmon in mid air.
I’ve watched them celebrate their catch by playing tennis with the fish. Slapping it out of the water with their tails back and forth to each other.
Spectacular animals to watch and so much bigger than you think up close.
