Pendine Sands. Where I promptly discovered a thorn in the sidewall of my new tyres. Seems to just be a slow, but I stuck the thorn back in and crossed my fingers. Everything I’m reading says it can’t be fixed, so I’m booked in for a replacement on Weds when we get to Cornwall. £165 well spent…fuming

Continuing our adventure en France, we arrived at La Gorge de la Dourbie in the Aveyron region on Tuesday. Bit of a longer stay here, so all the crap is unpacked and the gazebo erected. We managed to snag a fantastic pitch right on the river, handy for cooling off in the current 40 degree temps.

We took a day out today to go and visit La Grotterose, a limestone cave formation around 20 miles away. Some lovely mountain roads, Mrs Disturbed suggested we should bring the Impreza over next time...

An absolutely fantastic visit with a very knowledgeable English-speaking guide, the descent was approx 120 meters and the 10 degree temp was a welcome relief from the outside temp.
To give a sense of scale, the column in the last photo is in an alcove and stands 5 meters tall.
Tomorrow, we've hired kayaks to ride the rapids 8km down La Dourbie to join La Tarn at Millau - Mrs Disturbed is currently on pitch-up working out where our next stop will be

It was about 10mm long, but when I pull it out, it hissed (the tyre, not the thorn!). So I stuck it back inHole in the sidewall can't be repaired but it's gotta be a he'll of a thorn to have gone through it.
Always wanted to spend more time in this part of France, we have always rushed straight through
Seventies and Eighties mostly, the stuff I grew up listening to. Most newer stuff doesn't 'stick' like it used to.

Your a Lancashire Lad now! A little like "Your my wife now" never been to a test match used to watch it when I was younger my dad played cricket until he died. At a certain time of the year they would have some fun games the cricket club "Trios" my brother and I played in a couple. I stumped my DAD, he was not well pleased because cricket was everything to him he had al the strokes and could spin also. Tio you may know is only 3 a side with additional fielders and was great fun especial stumping old grumpy Geoffrey Boycott not the real one his impersonator who was very technically correct not that pleases limited over fellow players but he often played through carrying his bat and local grounds are not perfect in fact the very opposite and some of the bowlers just want to murder or maim you which is easy even when they are not accurate.
I had a spell of watch on TV in the good old days when Lancashire where quite good and did enjoy tests in the old days , watched a little recently after a lull of quite a few years. My maternal Grand farther prepared cricket squares for a very well known St Helens Grammar school they originally had two squares and I was told by an independent that his squares and wicket preparation was as good as any first class ground as some of the old boys went on to become professional and the same for rugby also although only league was officially pro in those days. As a School Boy I often was paid to help him and bloody hard work it was digging soils drying it riddling it preparing this and that but the best part was driving the tractor Massey Ferguson T20 Petrol /TVO I loved that pulling the gang mowers the smell mmmm painting the wicket markings using a Dennis Mower for the square played wicket where practically scalped with a special hand mower. I remember the smells and sounds and the Grandfather prepared sandwiches. The grounds had its own swimming pool too which was handy all to my self. Great days!
Definitely worth a stop off, even if only to visit the Viaduct (though I recommend getting off the autoroute and driving under and around - it's spectacular!
We tend to come every couple of years - usually for 2 or 3 nights. We were here in '22 with my son and his girlfriend, and I somehow ended up strapped to a random frenchman and jumping off a mountain
Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Good to see a couple of T6s being the chosen team vehicles amongst Land Rovers etc.

Up near Rugby for the night at Lairhillock Park, and trying out the Wild Earth awning for the first time instead of the Berghaus drive away jobbie.
The awning came with three telescopic poles, but we bought a single pole to add support in the middle side, so will see how things go.

Climbed Snowdon on Friday with my son. Stayed at a local campsite and did our first three night trip without EHU. River 2 (512wh) and 200ah of batteries had us covered running fridge, lights, fan all night and multiple recharges of phones, iPads and portable battery packs.
