Hi All,
I cannot find any info on what the max circumference or diameter of wheel/tyre combo that is recommended for the 5 speed gearboxes. Can anyone offer any advice?
The reason I'm asking is I've currently got 19s with 255/40/19 tyres fitted (works out about 2% larger diameter than the standard 205/65/16 claytons) and looking at a set of the rogue alloy swamper style alloys, either the 17" or 18". But both options come with tyre sizes that increase the overall diameter to near 9% of an increase in diameter from the factory tyre size. I see a lot of people fitting these sizes of wheels and just wondering at what point you will be putting too much strain on the gearbox with the increased diameter? Does anybody have eg 235/65/17 tyres fitted to their 5 speed and notice any issues? I love the look of the swamper wheels but I dont want to put any more strain on the gearbox than its already going through with the extra weight of a conversion.
FYI T28 T6.1 fully converted camper weighing 2530Kg total (with me and the dog in it)
Thanks!
