My issue is the tailgate hits the front wheel of the bike on the bike trailer. I doubt that there is a long enough ball to give me the reach, but if you don't ask, you don't get.

Nope, I like the tailgate for most other things .... just not unhitching the trailer when you want to get something in the back .... seats and folding bed stop me going in from a side sliderAh, I see!
