Virtual Cockpit and Infotainment theme and colours

I bought the hex-net vcds about a month ago and one of the first things I did was to start messing around with 'tubes' adaptations. This video explains what's it all about. In the case of my T6.1 (MY2024, Discover Media Pro) I was able to use Versions_0 through 4. They have slight differences only. So a bummer, because I wanted GTI style red for my van. All of them were stock blue so I started searching and activating additional menus for colour selections.

I did it with my mediocre german so not always sure what I was enabling. I am sure I was able to enable a 'background lighting' menu with RGB selection though. It obviously didn't change any background lights because T6.1 does not have that hardware so I disabled it. Obviously I have no backups and don't remember all the changes and configurations I tried.

What I am sure now is
17-Instruments
ENG153766-Tube_version - about first five appears to be working
IDE02489-Display depiction - all are working and they can be further modified by changing tube versions
IDE09732-ENG126835-Interior light: light configuration-Ambientemenue mit globalem aus - shows OFF button in the "background lighting" menu
IDE09732-ENG126836-Interior light: light configuration-Ambientemenue mit alle Zonen - this seems to enable the "background lighting" menu

Today, after 4hrs of freezing in the car trying to get this further I was able to change display depiction to version three and achieve golden colours on the cockpit. Further modification of tubes adaptation changes the shapes of the dials.

I am unable to change the gold to anything other than stock blue. So I tried getting that 10-30 colours picker back on. I enabled the 'alle zonen' adaptation but all I got was the menu with just Off button. I remember I have some other lighting/ambient lighting related settings activated/installed.

Another problem is that most of the forum threads about this are dedicated to OBD11 which are hard to transfer to VCDS for a noob like me.
I also found a couple of VCDS guides (VCDS HELP (Ambient Lighting Color Selection)) but they mention "IDE09731-ENG125015-Int. light: 2nd generation" which I can't locate and activate.

Now I got few questions:
- what version does this 2nd gen int light module come from
- how to get that colour picker menu back on
- how to make it change colours on both screens (cockpit + discover media pro unit)
- do I have MIB3? Discover media pro

@Kev.O no, sadly not yet. I had another go at it couple weeks ago using Golf 8 (5H) - Ambient Light Activation (30 colors) - VAG Coding but on T6.1 I got there is no such adaptation entries.

I do know however that I once managed to get the color picker appear in the infotainment menu. It didn't change colors of the UI though, but it might be that once it is there, you need another adaptation for the UI as well. So have to poke around more.

Thanks Mike. Am I right in saying Apple Maps don’t appear in the centre section like the Nav? I’ve seen footage of the guidance so know that can be shown.
I know several other manufacturers that enabled Apple Maps around a year ago, just wasn’t sure if VW were one of them.

Yes you are right. But this is entirely different thing that this thread is about. Apple Maps/google maps have to do with carplay/android auto integration. And that changes often.
