Upgrading Starter Battery - how to guide

I noticed last Sunday in Carista you can now change the details. I have now changed my battery details from 75 to 95

I’m considering getting a new battery as the existing is struggling with cold starting and was diagnosed during recent service with low capacity. I’m going to get a Varta probably, now my T6 102 is a 2015 CAAB non start stop model. I’m hoping it will not require any VCDS reprogramming as there’s no monitoring sensors connected unlike the ones on a 6.1 Stop/Starter. Can anyone confirm this and recommend a replacement Varta Spec please?
You sure ?
All T6 UK vans have start stop
Defo no negative shunt on the neg post of battery ? (Post a pic if your not sure)

If it's a 2015 T5.1 with stop/start it will need coding in.

The second check is to see if it has the sensor on the battery NEG terminal..

Drop us a pic of the battery terminals and we'll have a look.

Any 🤞 cal garage should be able to code it.... Or Halfords etc.

I will have a look and get a picture later, it’s possibly been disabled as there’s no active dashboard switch or drivers display sub menu item to deselect/select its operation temporarily. Which I’m kinda surprised but happy with tbh. 😉

I've ended up with an Exide EK960 - it's not yet in the van but I've absolutely rinsed the factory Moll (8 years old). I've had a look through the thread and although there are a couple of mentions of this battery - there isn't any specific instructions like there is with the Bosch. What exactly do I need to change in the BMS?
How you found this battery? Looking at this or the Varta, which is only 20 quid more

Bosch are made by Varta, but have a 5 year guarantee while Varta only had a 4 year guarantee, Varta have now gone up to 5 year, The Exide is only 3 as far as I can see?

I thought that too, but their AGM ones are sometimes made by Exide. It was only 20 quid more for the Varta gold AGM, perhaps i should have gone for that...but the Exide will be fine im sure.

Just grabbed a Bosch S5 A11 from Tayna via eBay for £115 using the current 20% code (until midnight) and hopefully 5% cashback via Quidco.

I decided that I wasn't going to try and push the 95Ah in the space with the extra fun of the battery top fuse/distro box. If I get good vibes when I get around to fitting it, and an A13 comes up at a good price I may upgrade.

I just fitted a larger Exide EK960 AGM 96Ah battery, slotted straight in, no issues. Disconnected the fuse box on top, held it to one side and in it went! Easy job

I suspect I may well end up buying both sizes if another offer comes up then.

I've spent weeks juggling between an easy "just get it done" swap and the attraction of having another 20Ah or so as a single battery van, I just slightly lost the nerve after a session of measuring up the space and worrying about the flexibility of some of the heavy cables.

I need to ask, how many hands do you have?!! I wrestled my big Bosch in, but I couldn't have done anything else without help! Fortunately my Startline doesn't have the fusebox thing on top...

I was surprised how easy it was after reading this thread before... i only had to disconnect the fusebox main wire and then moved it out the way, then i lifted the battery onto the front of the van (bar left of the headlight) then tilted it down into the gap and it went nicely into place!
