Upgrades/changes/common faults - 2019 T6

Alan Ginger

Psychiatric Nurse (retired)
T6 Guru
I have a 2019 DSG which has done 11500 miles - it has a full service record: are the any common faults I should look out for? Any upgrades I should make or any changes I should consider?

I am not in any way mechanically minded. All my previous cars have been main dealer maintained. This T6 is our only vehicle My wife will use it to commute until she retires in May.

Well Alan, I found upgrading the shocks and springs was money well spent on my van and it completely transformed the comfort and road handling.

The remap for the DSG Gearbox is high on many peoples list as well and takes the DSG gear box to the next level of drivabilty.

As for faults or common problems, well its advised to keep the fuel tank over 1/4 full at all times so regens can take place when the engine needs them, and try and avoid cheap supermarket fuel as well... it won't help with the EGR / DPF problems that can occur.

Many people have had issues with the Adblue also,,, in the whole though I think this is down to over-filling it.. So be careful when it requires an Adblue top up...

Hope this helps.

Many thanks Jason: I had looked at the What Car reports: I was looking for some real experience: Thanks again this is most helpful. Kind regards

Dear Jason: To pick your brains a little further: when you say you “ upgraded the shocks and springs” what did you upgrade them to? Thanks in advance.

Hi Alan

I went with a Koni kit supplied by CRSpreformance.. lots of good reviews on here and highly recommended... I went with a subtle drop of 40mm... I found the comfort of the ride improved hugely and the van feels more car like to drive.. more sure footed through corners with a reduced wallowing effect... less bouncy and crashy... it went from being a nice van to drive to a pleasure to drive... and was money well spent.

Hope this helps
