Turn off Stop / Start

Am I the only one who hates the Stop/Start feature.
It is a real pain in the ass.
Not only will it take life away from the battery but it must put extra strain on the starter, ring gear and especially the Dual Mass Flywheel.
Just keep forgetting to switch off every time I get in the van.

I feel your pain, just can't be good for any of the components. Just need to figure pout how to permanently disable it and I will.

It doesn't always start up in time I find with DSG, especially if you need to pull out sharpish. I was always told most of the damage is done in the first few minuets as the oil has to be pumped around. May be my age but I don't like it and also my age as I keep forgetting to turn it off!

I dont mind it at all really, but i do understand the concerns about engine wear and occasional its a PITA in taffic . I do think being able to reverse the switch would be a lot better. Its a shame it cant be done in VCDS

Hopefully the Carista app might be able to do it in a future update, I used Carista to disable it on a VW Golf - Audi A4 and Q3 for a couple of pints off the neighbours :)

Waste of time, especially in slow moving traffic. I find myself keeping it in gear with the clutch in, Something i never used to do. Restarting itself if you stall it handy though,

Or you can press the brake peddle more gently while at a standstill in a DSG and the engine won't stop....

I have no problem with it, my last 3 cars have had it and I'd feel a bit guilty having a vehicle that didn't stop while at lights. Never had any battery issues, or failing to start immediately whatever I've been driving, just need to get used to it

Also just seen above, my aircon is on all the time and it doesn't affect stop/start. If the battery gets too low, or the engine hasn't warmed up enough then the stop/start function is temporarily disabled

Perhaps the best solution is to manipulate outside temp so the car thinks conditions are not met and will not stop the engine? This way there's no mechanical re-wirering or relays needed.
