TSi: uprated clutch

Hi, how’s the clutch now, had my tsi mapped a couple Of weeks ago and now it slips when it comes on boost so Going to have to upgrade, did you change any other parts or just the clutch and flywheel, anyone else with a remapped tsi manual would love to here your experiences.

Thanks
Jon
Late reply but I'm running a Factory Kombi TSI with Revo and Sachs organic clutch. Slightly heavy underfoot but absolutely worth it as the OEM clutched slipped badly after the remap.

Just waiting on when I can take off my turbo and send off for a tte450 hybrid and hoping for around 400 bhp without upgrading fuel pump
Currently uprated exhaust air intake intercooler and horrible sach on of clutch
Any way looking forward to the power increase

Hi Jon
If the clutch has been slipping g for not long you may get away with just a clutch but for around £400 you may as well swap the dmf as well
To keep the engine temps cool you need to be looks at exhaust and air intake but the will happily run with just a remap but for how long I couldn’t say
Mine has done 30 k with not issues

So at 40k with a Pendle my TSi is slipping in 4th on power at 2300rpm, map was done pretty much from new and I knew it would shorten the lifespan of the factory clutch. My mechanic will charge £200-£300 labour to install a new one I just need to decide which one. I want stock driveability and pedal feel, not an on off left leg workout and a wife who refuses to drive it. The Sachs website is absolutely amazing and lists a stock Clutch Kit Xtend which I guess will do another 40k or so, a Performance Clutch for....

' chip tuning, turbocharger and supercharger modifications, towing trailers, commercial vehicle, snow removal vehicle, passenger car: emergency service, driving school, taxi, vehicles with maximum gross vehicle weight and according to high load (construction-site vehicles, towing service, campers, ambulance cars, etc.), 1/4 mile-race, race circuit (endurance race, clubsport, autocross), hill climbing (e.g. group N), rally, slalom, drift racing '

and a further Performance Clutch for......

race circuit (endurance race, clubsport, autocross), hill climbing (e.g. group N), rally, slalom, drift racing, 1/4 mile-race

Has anyone real world experience of fitting any of these, my head says stick with the stock clutch and put another one in at 80k for general ease of use.

Manual clutch? Mines slipping after remap. I'm presuming we just choose a clutch that can old more NM than we need?

Popped in for an update if it's of any use to anyone.....T6 TSi with a Pendle and about 40k on it most of that with the map, looked at every clutch available and ended up at a specialist who sells and builds clutches for everyday stuff plus race teams, track cars, dragsters and classic cars, had a tour of his little factory, a lesson in the operation of clutches ;) and some honest advice about what to fit to the van without needing more leg days in the gym.

I went with the stock Sachs clutch kit plus a new master slave cylinder, all fitted for £560 inc vat and inc new gearbox oil, drives like new again, firmer pedal feel slightly lower bite point and no slip in 4th.

He said the flywheel in these should be good for 120,000 miles of normal use but advised changing it when it has its next clutch in a few years time.

Great information, thinking we might need something a bit more heavy duty in ours, power+towing = unhappy clutch! Which specialist did you use please?

Glad you got it sorted.
I've gone the uprated route, definitely slightly heavier pedal feel but so much better.

Out of interest what's the reason for the gearbox oil change? Same spec oil gone back in?

www.clutch-fix.co.uk based in Cleckheaton a few miles from Bradford.

Glad you got it sorted.

Same oem oil back in, it's cheap to do, easy when the clutch is being changed and fresh oil in anything with moving parts is beneficial over the long term.

Would you know the number of the clutch kit please? I see GSF are doing a Sashs kit for about £400, but dont know if thats good for the 300bhp pendle remap

@Russbaker79 might be able to help here. Nutexa do some excellent clutch upgrades for transporters.
Hi Russ
I've emailed Nutexa direct this morning in reply to a quote as wasnt sure if it was just clutch or kit? Could you explain bit more about them as I cant find no reviews from owners / users for them to persuade me and thats why was asking about a sach kits on GSF for £400 as people recommend sach

I filled in the form for a clutch on mine with Nutexa and didnt get a reply. Ended up with Sachs flywheel and Helix organic clutch. Works well so far. Bit heavier to start with but dont notice it now.

@coullstar That's very unusual I've never heard of that happening, did you try to call them at all? I know the guys at Nutexa extremely well as one of their distrutors/installers and they pride themselves on their excellent customer service which myself and many other have received time and time again.

I agree with @The Van Cave Nutexa make some of the best clutch kits out their. They are less known in the domestic environment but are well known in the industry. They make friction materials for everything from cars to industrial heavy duty machinery, crane motors and HGV they certainly know their stuff.

I personally run Nutexa on my own vehicles and have never looked back and when the Caddys ready for a clutch it'll be Nutexa going in.

@Gary74 did you message them Tuesday night I have spoke with Nutexa and if so Russ was off yesterday and they only have 1 enquiry from a chap called Gary at 23.30 Tuesday night.

If anyone wants any Nutexa products we can process the order even if it's not listed on the website and get it shipped directly to you or fitted at our workshop (brakes only). Feel free to send enquiies through us and we can assist too. Clutches are quoted against the spec of each vehicle and therefore can't be bought off the shelf.

All Nutexa clutches are made to orders for remapped and heavy usage vehicles.
Most clutches are a two piece plate and cover.

We only offer Nutexa for brakes and clutches as we believe that shows how much faith we have in them as a company/brand.

Hope this helps and has not caused any offence to anyone as that's not the intention of my post and I hope it's helped and been informative.

Any queries please feel free to contact us directly on here, social media platforms, WhatsApp or phone. We can pick up and pass on any enquiries as I believe (I may be wrong). Nutexa are still trying to get their membership approved on here

cheers
Chris

Thanks for that Chris, as said Id not heard anything about Nutexa from customers ,But had a good chat with them at Camperjam, at mo its a 300bhp remapped TSI i have.
2 piece kit, what else would i need for clutch? Flywheels need replacing? Is a dual a upgrade on whats in there? And difference?
Cheers for your pointers

Hi buddy you get the clutch plate and pressure plate if you have a dual mass flywheel I'd recommend swapping that too. With clutches it's more the torque figure I'd need to pass on as that is the rotational force the friction material is resisting against and "gripping the flywheel" allowing you to transfer the power through the gearbox to the wheels this will also affect the spring strength required to provide the correct clamp pressure from the pressure plate.

Drop me a message on here privately or to info@dav-tec.co.uk with your name, mobile and email address on. What specification you require and exactly what you need in the package I'll pass the information to the guys at Nutexa get you a cost for everything sorted out and sent over. They're very accommodating.

Cheers
Chris
