The swamper low look

Was getting proper confused today as Steve @ CR was strongly warning against the 65 profile tyre. But BVM said it should look spot on. And then another chap sent me a pic of his van lowered 40-50mm with the setup I want and it looks perfect to my eyes. Not my intention to pitch people against each other. But It’s a flipping minefield guys. And mistakes are expensive.

I've been running 235/65/17 (load rated Michelin CC SUV) for nearly 3 years now on my T32, lowered most of the way down on ST-X coilovers - no issues, no rubbing - just comfortable driving and improved handling. I opted for a mud and snow rated tyre that would still be OK for campsites and farm tracks, but wasn't a compromise on the road (95% of my driving), offering decent road wet grip, low noise and decent MPG.

That’s good to know Thankyou. Especially the improved handling as I like making progress 🙂

Also a good guy I know sent me a pic of his stunning van with same setup, and again it looks awesome.

What tyres have you got? I'm looking for a set of 17" M&S tyres that don't break the bank.

Mine's most of the way down on STX too so it's nice to know 235/65 still fits. Can you put a photo up? how low is yours set?

I think the Coverts edge the Gelida in looks. No surprise they are more expensive.

These are not the wheels you’re looking for (said in an Obi Wan Kenobi voice if you choose), but I am on 30mm lowered Sportline springs and 235/65/17’s on my T32. It does measure 420mm from wheel centre to arch so appears to be more like 40mm drop though.

Anyway it looks way better than the Sportline wheels that I had fitted before with 255/45/18’s.

What you have to remember is that comparing those two tyres sees it sitting 26mm higher off the ground but also a 26mm shorter arch gap.

Very good points made. Beautiful colour van.

By the way, I did t dislike the Sportline wheels at all, I just wanted AT tyres and just wouldn’t have worked in my opinion.

Tyres are Michelin Cross Climate 2 SUV (Load Rated). They aren’t cheap but about 26k miles on them and they are still in decent shape with plenty of life left.

Garage went as low as they could go without causing any rubbing issues. A smaller tyre would drop the height of the van further, but would likely compromise the comfort.

For the record it looks superb. Are those the Navis MAC AT in anthracite ?

I run 235/65/17 Falken Wildpeaks on my T6, fitted to 17 x 8.5 et 34 wheels.
The coilovers are set to 70 mm (the lowest of their advertised range) but it actually sits at 90mm with an arch gap of 370mm.

No rubbing at all.
