The swamper low look

Having convinced myself I was going down the sporty look with 20s, I chanced upon some members vans with a look which is being coined as swamper low. I have been obsessing about a new set of wheels looking lost in the arches. The ride quality currently is very good on 235/50/18. The van feels almost chuckable and is really stable at speed. So losing that is a concern too.

At the risk of posting yet another van pic. Is it possible to say what would look best. Either 235/65/17 or 235/55/18.

Thoughts & comments gratefully welcomed

Well given the massive response I got to this post 😂

It seems I should be ok on 17s with a 235/65/17 tyre. Chatting with THQ about their MAC AT wheel they reckoned I would have about an inch to play with (ooer).

I think the difference is, the vans as stock are high, where you’ve had yours lowered (which your images clearly show a difference 👍🏻👍🏻) to get anything to look “low” your going to need to go down further.

Very generally - changing your wheels on existing suspension, will in most cases not make any difference, smaller tyres on the same size wheel will leave you with more wheel arch gap, bigger tyres will lift the van.

With mine, I’m on 17’s, I think I’m down around 80mm ish possibly more. Can’t remember.

you’ll be limited by how you’ve lowered yours at the minute, whether it’s just lowering springs - meaning you can’t get any lower with the existing suspension, or coilovers which may still have some range left in them to lower it further.

Don’t be disheartened with comparing your van to others, I’m sure, yours will still look great with a change in wheel to Swamper style regardless of how low it ends up being. You can always run as is for a while and if you do want it lower in future then get the set up changed then and sell on what you have. Not everyone wants to be low.

You’ve got the best colour (imo) so a great starting point!

Cheers buddy I was feeling stupidly peed off that I hadnt gone low enough. But like you say I can save a few pennies and go lower if need be.
