The Ford | T7 Conundrum

What would a same spec T6.1 be - similar price?
IIRC, like for like the Highline one was 6 or 7 grand more than the Startline (which made the business pack very good value if the cosmetic upgrades of the Highline werent needed), so from £33ish K + VAT, so a little over £40k with VAT.

Add on more for the higher engine options, DSG transmission, and any fancy optional extras and it was very easy to surpass 53k for a new 6.1, and that's before adding 4motion to the spec, so I cant see any issues there.

In an age where a mid sized family hatch of a decent spec can easily breach 40k I don't see how 53 large for a modern, well equipped van with 5 years free servicing and 5 years warranty is somehow worthy of comment. Everything costs these days.

We sold our first New Transporter ( T7) in under 36 hours after completing it . We are just building another kombi and another van. Sales in general is flat. But there will alway need a need for a new van.

Although he occupies just about the worst sector of the market for resilience.

The brand new stuff is still going out the door, tradesmen and companies still gotta work.

The old cheap stuff is also shifting well, presumably the likes of the Evri pilots.

The middle ground, the not-that-old-and-still-quite-pricy sector that's taken a hammering along with the rest of the economy, not helped by manufacturers selling new vans discounted or with 0% finance, etc.

Well I'm in a courtesy T7 today and it's a deffo no from me. Hate the exterior look. Looks like every other van now wheras my T6 clean lines just look better imo.
Interior looks really cheap. Hate the head unit because the only physical button now is power. All climate controls are also via the head unit, touch screen only, so adjusting while driving means going through touch menus which just doesnt feel safe. Not keen on the speedo display either. Looks like its angled down towards my groin instead of my eyes. The tilt function on the passenger seats feels cheap, flimsy and likely to break but the seats themselves are comfy but maybe that's because they are new. The real surprise for me though was that the windshield looks really poor quality. I swear its all wavy and the image distorts as you move your head. I've never seen anything like that in my 35 years of looking through windshields! The engine and road noise in the cab sounds noisier as well.
I honestly can't find anything that feels like enough of an improvement over my current T6 to make me want to change it out for a T7 unless forced too.

For some. I don't have an issue with (we're on our fourth) and plenty people feel the same.

Almost 98% of folk who get an E car stick with electric for their next vehicle, which demonstrates those who do dip their toe are overwhelmingly happy. Thar begs the question as to why anyone should feel unsettled in the first place.

Much of the remaining disquiet is driven by the pseudoscientific nonsense the likes of the Dail Mail trot out.

Absolutely. People rubbished the Japanese auto industry in the seventies, and by the end of the decade they'd taken over the world.

The western motor industry and the buying public clearly aren't students of history, because now it's happening all over again hit with the Chinese this time. Industry, consumers and society have more or less ignored the lesson of the recent last sleepwalked into the same situation. We've done it to ourselves, the only difference being the process has been so much more rapid this time around. I don't have a lot of sympathy for an industry and buying public that ignores such a lesson.
So I can see all sides of this argument and it will carry on for some time without doubt.
At work we have around 35 vehicles on the fleet, 8 of which are transporter sized vehicles.
4 of them are due to be changed in Q4 of this year.
I have already called round several Asset management companies and have been offered anywhere between 18 and 24% discount off of the new transporter.
The main driver from these companies is orders in the book so that when VW review they can say that sales are up and lead times are growing.
I have driven an EV car since 2019 and to me they serve a purpose, but they are just a tool to be used in that way.
I don’t have any passion around them and I honestly much prefer rumbling around in a van.
The previous T series is a joy and makes me wonder why I don’t get rid of the EV car.
However that isn’t what society wants and if that means I have to drive an EV as a daily and use the T6 to enjoy my downtime then so be it.

So.....the question remains......has anyone on here bought the new VW Transporter?.....and are they willing to give us their opinion?

Thats the pattern with every new generation of van.
This is way more than a facelift or next gen. It's a whole new van.

I've been in one twice now. Hate it. Engine is rediculously noisy. Road noise also loud but better tyres might help. Was in a 25 plate and the cab plastics where clicking and ticking already. No physical buttons for heating/aircon. It's all touchscreen now. Looks awful. Suspension is better than VW OEM versions previously so that's something.
I was behind a vivaro while driving it and thought the back of that looked way better, almost VW like. Never thought I'd say that!
