Fox and Goose pub, Greywell, just off the M3. Very quiet village, free overnight for vans, access to toilet.
Just buy a few drinks, 53 min’s from Portsmouth to Greywell.
Well time is cracking on and all being well we should be there in less than a week .
Most stuff already sorted but not even looked at campsites santander area , any recommendations would be most welcome
Need to go through the van with the hoover today .
Thanks Jim , just updated my ACSI app and checked out what's around that end ..
A lot seem closed at this time of year. .
We'll be guided by the weather so will probably be heading south before too long anyway .
Had a look on the ACSI app, only one showing in Santander, not stayed there but if it’s for a quick stop over might be worth a look View attachment 308361 View attachment 308362
It’s not the prettiest of towns but a good place to get fuel and food.
Plenty of nice places to see in the Cantabrian Mountains a short journey south or Picos de Europa slightly west. No need to spend any money on campsites unless you really want to, free park ups for campers.

ACSI isn’t much use in Spain and Portugal from my experience, the good sites are busy anyway and don’t need to discount and the ones that do discount you may not want to visit.
I’ve noticed that Brits and Germans struggle with the gregarious nature of the Spaniards and Portuguese…..grumpy bastards.
ACSI has worked well for us during our winters in spain over the past few years but it does seem abit hit and miss regarding qualifying periods at every different site .
Savings of upto 11€ a night in some of our favourite sites in Benicassim and Aguilas to name a couple.
@JumpShip we have stayed at the Camping Virgen Del Mar site referenced above. It was our first night on our first expedition to Spain. The site is ok but rather basic and probably more so this time of the year. But it’s a starting point near Santander.
Thanks Martinf , just looked and it is actually open all year unlike a few I've looked at
We dock at a reasonable time on Friday so we'll make the call at that time whether we stick around or head straight off (weather dependant) .
Good to know for when we come back aswell .
If you are heading south from Santander there’s a magical ancient village called Frias (less than 2 hours drive) with a very cheap spacious aire, has water, wash basins last time I visited. Toilets, showers and EHU should be operational by now. It’s on SearchForSites.
A couple of good lively restaurants / bars and the best castle balancing job you’ll ever see.
