Just done mine with VCDS, went to 80ah AGM from 70ah EFB+. Coded it ok (AGM = "fleece" for battery construction), but then spent the last 24hrs having to monitor and adjust my Victron DC/DC charger due to the change in Smart Alternator output. TBF, I am being lazy and can't be bothered to run a wire to the charger and using Engine Shutdown Detection Seems ok now though
Update on battery change.
So after reading in here the post by @ greybeard about the new battery having to be recoded and doing a google search,Thank you Greybeard. I had to ring the near to me from work tyre and battery place with details of van. I asked them about recoding and they said not needed and they don’t do it, and don’t have the decoder etc and I should maybe take it to VW. I said the T6 forum and google says it should be done. I also rang the guy that used to look after our car and motorhome who is really a trusted garage and friend. He got his top bloke to ring me back and said the same it needs to be done and explained why.
As it’s my daily I need it right and was stuck at work until 5pm so decided when I left work to go via Halfords and ask. The guy was really helpful and very knowledgeable in all things battery’s and vw. So I got it done there and then. £147 fitted and coded with five year guarantee.
