Team Indium Grey

I left Team Reflex Silver a little over a year ago, but I'm now very, very happy to join a new team (in a superior colour... :D)

Picked up a few weeks ago now, it's a 4Motion Caravelle Exec with lovely black leather interior and lots of toys to play with, and will be doing double duty as daily driver and weekend camper. This pic was taken on our recent 3-day road and camping trip through the heart of Wales.

We aim to get away for at least 2 weekends a month, with a 2-3 week Euro trip in August, so I'm trying to set the van up to be always in a just-add-beer-and-bacon state. I don't want to make any permanent changes to the exterior, although my shopping list keeps getting longer, my self-imposed rule should keep spending within (reasonably) sensible limits (note to self: must stop coveting everything seen on this forum!)

That said, the current shopping list is
  • Swivel Seat Bases - need to check there is no issue with heated/memory seats
  • Flat Dog Expedition Roof Rack
  • Oz Rally Raid Alloys with Falken Wildpeak Tyres - currently struggling to decide between bronze or matt black
  • Find a way to fit the Fiamma 45 awning (bought without realising the brackets needed to be bonded to the body ) to the new roof rack

Had the same dilemma about bonding brackets and drilling holes in the roof for the Fiamma F45.
Eventually sourced some brackets and ours is now firmly attached to our Ultibars.
Fitting to a roof rack should be possible with the correct brackets.
Just don't expect Fiamma to be helpful !

Thanks, I don't suppose you know which brackets you ended up with?

I'm currently leaning away from a full expedition rack and possibly going to go with 4 Thule SquareBars and the official Fiamma mounts

For reference, I used the Fiamma 98655-770 brackets to attach awning to the bars.
Perfect, thank you. Those were the mounts I was looking at, although it seems they only support bars up to 55mm wide, but the ultibars are 60mm, which is a massive shame as they are half the price of the Thule ones :(

Sorry, another question if you don't mind. Are your bars the 1400mm ones and how many Fiamma brackets are you using
I have the VG263 bars that are 1400mm long.
The van came with 3, but I have added a 4th so that I can carry both a roof tent and a roof box.20230612_094348.webp
You can fit 2, 3 or 4 depending on what you need to carry. You just need to make sure that you get the correct height of mounting brackets , depending on which mounting points you intend to use. This ensures that all 4 are level. The front and rear are slightly taller (79mm) than the middle 2 (71mm).
I used 2x Fiamma brackets, on the front and rear bars.

Nice, can I ask what wheels are they and what front splitter hat is please?
Thanks RogueOne. Frigo was close, they are Wolfrace Dortmund 9jx20" in matt bronze. Bought from Vanstyle during Black Friday sale last year. Splitter is the 3 piece one from Transporter HQ.

Sorry for the confusion. I wasn’t aware that “Eurosport” is not the name of the wheel but the name of a range of wheels.

Our Last Transporter was a Reflex Silver T5 Full conversion.

Now taking delivery of this beauty in the next week or two: 2020 T6.2 Kombi 150 DSG Highline with twin Sliders. Just what I've been looking for...

What would be your first Aesthetic mods to add that won't break the bank?

Gloss black grilles, springs. Depends on how much breaks the bank I guess. Slightly lower is always a good start. Wheels too. Nice starting point!
