Tailgate Closing Issues.

Hi all,

Since new I’ve had issues with the tailgate not engaging properly on closing. The dealership says it’s down to the vacuum created and it bounces off the latch and was told that this should settle after time, 18 months on it’s still the same. I think what they’re saying is correct as when another door is open or a window is open there are no problems but this isn’t always practical.

Any tips to solve this?

Yep, sorry should have said as much.

Had a T5 before, lined, insulated etc and never had a problem.

That’ll be the issue then. You’ll probably find whoever insulated it has blocked the baffles on the vents.

Yeah remove the insulation from around them or slam the tailgate harder

Where are the baffles/vents located?

Offside has no wiring close by in panels. I drilled 2no. 50mm holes on panel and fitted black round grilles to the holes. I did post some pics last year. Anyway, this helped in closing the tailgate.
