T6 mileage concerns

Hi. We are looking to buy our first camper and have our heart set on a T6 which is a couple of years old. We saw one advertised on gumtree close by (16 plate for approx 30k) and went to see it last night. We loved it but have'nt got a clue what we are doing. I'm concerned that it has just had a new clutch and fly wheel fitted despite having only 70k miles. This didn't seem right and there is no full service history. We've checked the mot via the government website but that only shows us the last 2 years. We also paid for an Experian vehicle check report which came back clear but had no mileage history... we would appreciate any help/guidance anyone is willing to share as it appears to be somewhat a minefield out there.

Hi Martin. A two-year-old van will surely have gone to a VW dealer for its first services which will be recorded on VW's database. There is no paper record. You'd have to get the records from a VW dealer - I expect there could be a charge for it.
Also a two-year-old van wont have MOT history

Just phone VW customer services as he info is held centrally and free. But any doubts will always be there. We service loads of vans from new but log it with VW to update their system where possible.

Go with your gut feeling ! Don’t rush into a van they are a large investment and hopefully you will get the bug and have it for many years ,most camper vans are well loved by there owners and will have paper work and history coming out of there ears .most converted vans will have higher mileage because of there previous life as a van compared to a full camper conversion done from new

New cars have an MOT after 3 years so a 16 plate should only have 2 MOTs in it’s history anyway.
