T6 DSG oil seal leak.

Hello all,

Didn't see this discussed before but noticed I have an oil leak from a large oil seal on the LH side of the DSG. There is a capped oil seal near the gearbox mount that's weeping.

Is this a gearbox out job or can it be changed in situ. ?

Had mine my done few months back , pretty sure it's just plate off and new seal dont

i had a closer look and found other similar photos online- the problem is caused by crap material in the seal.

The metal housing/ stiffening insert isn't made of corrosion resistant metal so it rusts and then the rust expands the seal causing the leak.

pretty crap material spec as standard is corrosion resistant metals when the stiffener is exposed - to prevent this exact problem.

Found the PN 0BH301125C and it's cheap. Looks like the seal can be replaced if the gearbox mount comes off. Will order and give it a go.
