T6.1 Infotainment firmware update

Hello all, I have issues that infotainment system get stuck upon power on looking for "users". It stays there forever.
Sometimes resetting the unit can help (holding power button for 10 seconds until VW logo comes on)

The systeminformation tells:
Unit partnumber: 3G5035820
Hardware: H12
Firmware: 0156
Navigation: 19.1

There is also two "buttons" on the screen saying: "Update firmware" and "Online download".
I tried both of them and get stuck.

What is the process of updating?

I’m guessing you’ll need the update files on an SD card. Then when you tap the upgrade button, it will actually do something. But, not tried it. Nor do I know where you can get the update from.

If the vehicle battery is fully charged the online update should work. My T6.1 has updated its firmware a few times via this option. Keep trying it over the next few days with a charged battery, it should eventually work.

Interesting! Does the van maintain a cellular connection? Do you pay a subscription for this?

You don't need to pay for the simcard - its already part of the van.
All modern vehicles spew data constantly.

I have the VW we connect plus subscription, so maybe that allows over the air updates?!?
