T6.1 Heated mirror not Timing out !

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out a way to time out the heated mirrors on 2024 T6.1 after 10 minutes of it been switched on.
It appears that they stay on as long as the engine is running, or until switch off from the rotary switch. would this be possible to program via VCDS?, or do we need to hack the BCM unit?.
If so how can I find a pin out for the A , B , C Terminals on the BCM unit for a 2024 T6.1 please.

Seems like a lot of effort to achieve very little, the time/parts/effort would outway the cost of a new pair of mirror glass replacements ?

A lot of other VW cars have a timer on their rear window heater and mirrors, but haven't checked my van. I suspect it may depend on model build level etc.

If one can find the pin out diagram, its would be an easy fix. there is a SMD relay on the BCM unit for the mirrors, with the help of the pin, out shouldn't be that bad.

if you have a T6.1 with the energy usage display in the middle of the two dials, it will show what options are on at a given time i.e. A/C, Seat heaters, mirror heaters etc...
and the energy consumption due to all these being ON.

Interesting project, I say go for it, you're improving the breed. Then obviously tell us how you've done it.

How did you verify they are actually on? Or just the entertainment display?
T6.1 MY20-22 from factory the mirror heating was set to turn off in 600 seconds. Would have expected to be still the same as below (in snippet fromT6.1 MY22)

yes, it was showing on the dash, and I felt the mirrors too, they were very warm. In the snippet you have above it says the Window heater, even the windscreen heater time out after few minutes. I thought this could be done via VCDS, but couldn't find any settings.

Could you code the mirrors to come on with either heated screen or rear window as these time out? Don’t know if it’s possible- just a thought.

I would be interested in this as I am allways leaving them on as well!!

It only stays ON if the engine is running, hence it will not burn out quickly. But it will, after some time. Just a thought to improve it a bit. worst case, I will fit a small tone generator to beep after 10 minutes of the mirror heaters being ON, so I will be able to turn them OFF from the rotary switch.

@mmi so does that mean that the mirrors time out after 600s ? I assume this would reset every time the ignition was turned off if the switch was left in the on position.

Yes, correct. The time can be adjusted if so desired using the mentioned adaptation channel.
