That may be but I dont think that will appease, should the worst happen, you rear end someone because your braking distances are much worse than theirs due to the tyres.
Random question on swampers, I have all terrain tyres, what's the point in having a spare wheel - surely it's going to be useless in size compared to the new much bigger swampers? Am I not better off with a space saver can?View attachment 310134
A standard spare works fine in an emergency but don't go banging down the motorway at 80mph on it ... a few steady miles to the tyre shop works ok. In my experience anyway.

That's a thing ... so mines a 4Mo, currently on 235/55/18 not sure what size the spare is but it's a 17 incher ... so if I had to put the spare on (on the back) would it upset the 4Mo gubbins if the rear wheels weren't being driven at all?

If you were to fit a 235/60/17 to the spare it'd be only 0.5% different in rolling circumference to the 235/55/18's on your van.
I think that'd be fine on a 4Motion van as a get you home or to the tyre depot solution, to put that into perspective, it'd be no different to having 2mm difference in tread depth difference.
